Sleigh Bells, Tell ‘Em single review

Sleigh Bells, Tell 'emWe’re a bit late getting on the Sleigh Bells, reindeer-hauled band wagon, but now we’re on, we’re probably not getting off again. Their debut album, Treats, is perfect for blasting out the cobwebs on a tough day, and new single Tell ‘Em is one of the best on there.

While the single was released originally as a free download back in April, it’s now up for general sale; probably as a result of them being a bit more big-time now. Opening like a punch to the head, it’s big beats and Derek E. Miller’s distorted guitars work perfectly with Alexis Krauss’s vocals. Tell ‘Em sets up the rest of the album like M.I.A’s Paper Planes set up the rest of the Paper Planes Album.

The Brooklyn duo are also smashing out gigs all over the UK and apparently the shows are ace; thunderous guitar topped off with crowd walking.

Not surprisingly, Sleigh Bells are signed to N.E.E.T. Recordings, M.I.A’s record label. They also feature on the soundtrack to Spike Jones’ new robo-romance short film I’m Here with A/B Machines from Treats.

Sleigh Bells, Tell ‘Em single review: 4/5
