Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee coming to Netflix

Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld on NetflixTaking his motorcade from its previous home on Crackle, Jerry Seinfeld will be pulling up at Netflix junction later in 2017, bringing new episodes of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee with him. He’ll also be hauling over all of the previous episodes in one fell swoop, so if you’ve ever dreamed the dream that has no name and longed to see Jerry shooting the shizzle with the likes of Judd Apatow, Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig then your luck’s in.

The new series will be the tenth in the history of the show, which started back in 2012, and with six episodes per series there’s a lot to catch up on when it all arrives. If that isn’t enough Seinfeld chat for you to binge on, there’s also 24 new episodes being commissioned exclusively for Netflix. The first batch of new episodes will be jump starting in late 2017, continuing with an intermittent rattle into 2018 with filming mostly taking place this year.

The individual shows are pretty short in general, ranging between six minutes at their shortest – George Costanza back in Series 3 – to 23-minutes at their longest – Steve Martin in Series 7. There’s a well established format to each episode, starting with Jerry telling you a bit of something about the classic car he’s picking the comedian up in, followed by some chat in the car with said comedian and closed out with more chat at a local coffee shop.

It’s essentially a US equivalent to Car Share on steroids, where steroids are replaced by delicious coffee – the politically correct alternative to hard drugs – Peter Kay is switched out for Jerry Seinfield and Sian Gibson is jettisoned out in exchange for a revolving door of comedians. Ridiculous analogies aside, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee is pretty funny, if a little on the American side, so you might want to check it out when it arrives on Netflix later this year. Take a look at the Crackle trailer below to get an idea about what to expect. However, you should probably brace yourself for Jerry Seinfeld’s hair loss from the good old days. It’s pretty traumatic viewing. We’re still mourning his loss (Jerry, we’re so sorry!).

In addition to the new episodes and the entire back catalogue of the show, Jerry will also be bringing his stand-up comedy to Netflix to add a little more freshly squoze love into the mix. This will include two brand spanking and shiny new stand-up shows exclusively for Netflix and the first of these will be arriving on the network later in 2017.

We’re looking forward to getting to binging on new and old episodes of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee while we’re also getting hepped up on our own cup of Josephine. The raft of comedians that have already appeared on the show is impressive enough – Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Aziz Ansari, Tina Fey, Chris Rock, David Letterman, Carl Reiner & Mel Brooks, Michael Richards, Sarah Silverman, Larry David, Ricky Gervaise – not to mention the range of cool classic cars that they drive to get coffee, but with the addition of 24 new right turns still to come, it makes for a gear shift full of fender-fried fuzzy tingle times. Whatever that means.

However, even more exciting is the fact that Jerry will also be helping to develop scripted and non-scripted comedy programmes for Netflix, so maybe, just maybe, we might may well, possibly get some kind of as-yet-undisclosed sitcom from him. As big Seinfeld fans, it’s high up on our 2018 wish list, alongside world peace, a dramatic increase in the average length of a weekend and the discovery of the graviton.
