Matt Smith, the 11th Doctor Who – Best new Dr

Dr Who and Amy PondI’m not really a big fan of Dr Who. I don’t have any real recollection of the older series and to be perfectly honest I had the same response to David Tennant as I do to Jamie Oliver and George Osborne. However, Matt Smith’s Dr Who (image courtesy of the BBC) is infinitely watchable. He just seems infinitely more believable as a time lord than Tennant.

One of the best elements of the show is the Dr’s relationship with his Tardis bound lady partner, Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan. With ginger hair and freckles ablaze, she manages to save the Doctor almost as much as he saves her, but there’s also a really cool chemistry between the two stars, which becomes a part of the storyline.

The special effects are as shoddy, hilarious and low budget as they always have been, with a few exceptions, but despite this it drags you into its multi-dimensional folds with ease.

The episodes are completely juxtaposed too, which is great, taking you from a space bound UK of the future one week, to an alien infested 16th Century Venice the next.

With some class lines, well produced sets, classic FX and a whole new badazz incarnation for the Darleks, expect big things from the 11th Dr Who.
