The line-up for Primavera Sound 2013 festival in Barcelona was announced in early 2013 and it looked like a very impressive line-up. Following on from the news that broke in January that Blur would be headlining the Spanish festival, the rest of the line-up only added to what was shaping up to be one of the best music festivals of the year.

Imagine all the new bands you want to see with a few of the older legends all packed into the same event and that’s what the Primavera Sound 2013 line-up encapsulates. Wu Tang Clan rub shoulders with The Vaccines; The Suicide of Western Culture with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and My Bloody Valentine; Melody’s Echo Chamber, The Knife and amazingly The Jesus and Mary Chain alongside Hot Chip, Grizzly Bear, Matthew E. White, Dan Deacon, Crystal Castles, Dinosaur Jr, Animal Collective, Apparat and only ruddy bloody Blur! It looked like it was set to be an instant classic.

Combine all of that with the amazing sunshine of Barcelona, giant fire pits of paella and all the sangria you can possibly want and you’ve got a stunning, uber-long festival weekend. It all started on Wednesday the 22nd May 2013 and finished up on Sunday the 26th May 2013. Tickets were available from Ticketmaster and if you bought them before the 5th February 2013 you will probably have got them for the reduced price of €160 (around £140), but after that they went back up to the standard €175 (£152).

The full Primavera Sound festival line-up 2013 poster is below (although it missed out Django Django for some reason) and the organisers have also put together the cool intro video for the main acts, which is well worth a watch, also below. If you’re wondering what the music is in the background of the video, it’s Digital Versicolor by Glass Candy, who also played at the festival.

While Primavera Sound may not seem all that easy to get to for us Brits, and the addition of flights doesn’t exactly do much to keep the costs down, we reckon that if you plan early and book up well in advance it doesn’t work out much more expansive than the likes of Reading and Leeds or Glastonbury, so if you’re looking for something new with guaranteed sunshine it’s always a good call.
