River Island gets experimental for women Spring Summer 2012

With all the crazy gypsy TV shows that are dogging the likes of Channel 4 these days it’s enough to make you want to adopt Jil Sander-esque minimalist white, black and grey. However, there are a number of items in the River Island spring and summer 2012 collection that prove that standing out and looking a little bohemian can be a smart way of pulling off some stylish new looks.

River Iseland crazy pattern suit

This combo is brilliantly stand-out, but still super cool with one of the best patterns we’ve seen used for a woman’s suit. The fact that it’s also got a matching oversized clutch bag only adds to its appeal. The simple white blouse helps to ground the style in a little form, but that’s counterbalanced with some truly epic summer wedges, which we like a lot.

This is a suit that was made to be worn with shades and while we love the pink rimmed goggles the model is wearing above, you might want to contemplate a pair of wayfarers to tone things down a little.

This is about as close as the line gets to a traveller’s life, but there’s just enough style to get by and you could easily take any item the models above are wearing to act as signature additions to your wardrobe. Equally, we’re not entirely convinced that the skirts needs to be worn quite so high on the waist if you’re looking to take this look a little.

What you can’t fault though is the sheer level of detail and embellishment that has been added to the two skirts above. Their like a cross between a biker jacket and the Pearly King’s suit and to be honest, we’re a little enamoured with them. We wouldn’t expect too many girls to head out the door with just a bikini to to accompany the, but the open front shirt looks like a good way to go.

Even though this shirt and trousers combo is all white, it’s still supremely unique. It may not be as extroverted as the model shots above, but it’s just got a way of grabbing you and making you take notice. While some might say wearing white trousers and a white blouse is a similar fashion faux pas as doubling up on your denim, we think it’s a simple way to stand out from the crowd without being garish.

The blouse is literally amazing with a very cute collar, sheer sleeves, a cool button line down the middle and impressive detail in the pattern woven into the fabric of the main body section. Add that to the smoking black piping down the leg of the trousers and you’ve got something to sit up and swoon over.
