Yuck announce Middle Sea video & 2013 UK tour dates

YuckIt’s been a little while since the first coming of Londoners, Yuck, on their self titled debut album in 2011, but the three piece are back this year with a whole host of new material, a 2013 headline tour and six European gigs supporting the marvellous Pixies. First off the bat is the video to their latest single, Middle Sea, which you can watch below, and it’s a doozy (not that we really know what a doozy is).

The new single is taken from their upcoming album, Glow and Behold, which has a release date of the 30th September 2013. The album will be their second, following on from Yuck, and if Middle Sea is anything to go by the rest of their new material should be well worth a listen as the bleak nights of winter start to roll in over our blackened soil and green fields.

With a play on words title (Middle C) and a bit of a mental video, directed by filmmaker Michael Lawrence, the single at the heart of it all is a crunching guitar fired track with a running riff and driven vocals. It’s got a healthy helping of fuzzy tone, a brilliantly circular transition and some stunning trumpet melody.

There’s not much in the way if extended dialogue in the lyrics, pretty much boiling the entire song down to two main lines, “I don’t want to wait forever. I want it now” and “move away across the ocean”, both of which are pretty easy to get behind.

The video centres around a brutal tennis game between a chilled out son, played by fro sporting drummer, Jonny Rogoff, and his fictional, overly competitive and equally coiffured dad. Both of them are pretty bad at tennis in all fairness, but when Rogoff’s pappy starts to lose one too many shots he takes to verbally and physically berate his son. It gets pretty ugly and links in well with the need for escape that the lyrics seem to call for.
