Destiny 2 UK release date, trailer, story and gameplay details

Destiny 2 UK releaseIt’s been nearly three years since the addiction of the original game first hit the shelves and finally Destiny 2 has been confirmed by developers Bungie on its Twitter channel, following a number of leaks in the build-up to the announcement. There was very little to go on at the very beginning, with just the image above as confirmation, but as more and more has been released, the sequel is starting to take shape with a destructive story and the kind of gameplay trailer that fans have been hoping for.

The Destiny Twitter page followed up on the teaser image a day later with a pretty funny video featuring Cayde-6 talking about the start of some new mayhem and carnage, which he kind of thought he had, but he definitely didn’t! You can check out the video below, but the most important news is what sat alongside the video post, which is a note to say that the worldwide reveal trailer would be landing on the 30th March 2017 and you can check it out in full at .

UK release date

Following the arrival of the gameplay trailer below, we now know that the UK release date will be on the 8th September 2017 with beta access in the summer. As was the case last time, the game will be available on the Xbox ONE and PlayStation 4, but the big news is that it will also be on PC though Blizzard’s Battlenet platform.

Story

This time around, the Citadel has been attacked, leaving the Guardians to regroup and form a plan to fight back. Led by Ghaul, a huge Warlock with incredible powers, the invasion manages to succeed in stealing the light, reducing the Guardians’ power in the process, and reducing the strength of the rallying forces. It’ll be up to you to help to reclaim the power and put a stop to Ghaul’s tyranny.

Gameplay

We’ll probably have to wait until E3 2017 before we get a chance to see the actual gameplay, but the reveal trailer should give us a bit more info to go on in terms of how the sequel is being set up. There’s a fairly significant hint at this in the image above. If you look closely at the foot of the number 2 you can see The City burning, billowing plumes of smoke up to the Traveler, which still sits above it. Clearly the fighting has reached The City and the decimation should define the starting point for the sequel.

The Destiny 2 worldwide reveal trailer should build on this, along with the shoot out video featuring Cayde-6, to give us more info on why everything looks like it’s been shot to bits. Whether it’s an invasion force led by the The Darkness or a localised civil war, it looks as though it’s going to get pretty frenetic when the game finally arrives.

There have been a number of rumours doing the rounds online, including posters appearing with release dates and speculation about an Autumn 2017 release date, but we’re expecting Bungie to give fans of the title something to aim towards at the end of the reveal trailer. Destiny was released in the UK on the 9th September 2014, coinciding with the worldwide launch, so gamers should be able to look forward to something very similar this time around.

The opening game set things up for Earth’s big push back against The Darkness, but it looks as though things have taken a turn for the worse for Destiny 2. You know things are bad when Cayde-6 is in action. The trigger happy Vanguard for the Hunter class spent the majority of the first game selling you armour and emblems, so if he’s getting mixed up in the fray with his shoot them all to death mentality then it’s going to take a lot to calm things down.
