Hollow Knight Silksong Deep Docks locked door

The Deep Docks is a pretty large area in Hollow Knight Silksong, but by far the biggest obstacle is the locked door. The main exit from the region is blocked by a door that you can’t open, so you’ll need the solution below for this to be able to progress and make it to the Deep Docks boss.

The reality is that this isn’t the only locked door in the Deep Docks, so we’ll cover all of these to help you get the most out of your run. Some of these are relatively easy to solve, but others will require a bit more effort, so we’ll start with the most important locked door, and that’s the main one leading from the boss.

Deep Docks locked door #1 and 2

If you’re not too sure where to find the very first locked door in the Deep Docks, it’s simply a case of heading to the right of the map vendor, Shakra. However, to open this you’re going to need a new ability, which will allow you to jump up to the platform above to trigger the switch and open the door.

The ability it located in the far north east of the map, so from Shakra, climb upwards and then jump to the left to trigger a switch to raise the dangling platform. With this you can ride up a little and continue to climb, but if you get stuck with any of this you can simply follow along with the video below.

Head to the right from here and through to the next room, which has several enemies that will give you rosary beads once you defeat them. Fight your way through, and you’ll come to a lava section with a skeletal deer bounding across it. Hit it a few times to beat it and then you can walk on the dark charcoal as long as you jump now and again to ensure you don’t get burnt.

When you get to the end, jump to the top and attack upwards to detonate an explosion. Just make sure you get well clear before it blasts. This will give you a route up into the next area above, and from here it’s a case of climbing up and beating enemies that get in your way, which you can see in the video above.

Take the left channel as you ascend, and take a right at the top to use the gap above to jump to the next level. Here, you’ll find a locked door, but this can only be opened much later in the game, so we’ll come back to that to avoid spoilers for now. All you need to know is that it’s an ability you get from a later region of Pharloom in Hollow Knight Silksong.

From here, head to the left a few screens, and you’ll find a place to drop down to the level below. You’ll then need to climb down, but do it carefully as there are a number of enemies on the way. Avoid the spikes at the bottom and detonate the explosive, which will open a route back to where you were previously.

Don’t take this route. Instead, go to the left and in the next area you’ll have a jump that seems like you can’t make it back from. Do it and this will lead to the ability portal, which will give you the Swift Step ability to sprint/dash in the air and on the ground, so now you’ll be able to jump back.

With the ability, it will open up a lot of different areas to explore that you couldn’t get to before, including a switch to the second locked door over to the left, which leads back to a rest area. However, to follow the main story, you need to retrace your steps to the room where Shakra was, and then you can jump up to the switch. This will open the main Deep Docks locked door, and you’ll then have the Deep Docks boss to fight. If you’re struggling to beat Lace, you can check out the video below to get some tips.

Deep Docks locked door #3

If you’ve explored the depths of the Deep Docks then you might have come across another big locked door not too far below the merchant with a keyhole. The solution to this one is way easier than the first, because it just requires you to buy the key to open it.

This is the key that you can get from the shop in the village in The Marrow, so if you want to get through this locked door you just need to head back there using fast travel. Talk to the merchant to buy the key, and you’ll then be able to return to the Deep Docks to open the door.

This one is going to take a lot more work. To get this, you need to progress much further in the game until you complete Shellwood. This will see you making your way through Far Fields, Greymoor and Bellhart, although, the last one is a very quick run through.

Shellwood is where you will find the Cling Grip ability, which will allow you to wall jump in Hollow Knight Silksong. However, to get it, you’ll need to defeat Sister Splinter and master the flower jump, which you can do by simply jumping to get the direction right and then attacking while pulling down on the joystick.

If you’re stuck on Sister Splinter, you can get some tips with the video below, but you’ll still need to buckle up for a challenge. It’ll definitely point you in the right direction. The effort doesn’t end there, though, because you’ll then need to head back into The Morrow to follow the route up to the mask fragment locked door.

If you return to The Morrow from Deep Docks, you simply head left and then start to climb when you get to the point in the map image below. You only need to step up a little and then you can start to head back to the right, as though you’re following a direct path to the mask fragment locked door.

This will bring you to the point in the image below where you can use Cling Grip to wall climb up and across to the right. From here, it’s just a matter of jumping over the platforms and heading through to the next area on the right, which will lead to a challenging arena room to face.

It’s a tough one, but you should be able to speed through it a little quicker with the help of abilities and tools. If you’re really struggling, you can buy traps from the merchant in the Deep Docks, which might just give you the edge to get through to the door to unlock it.
