The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Death Mountain Chasm guide

Things can get pretty dark in the Depths of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kiingdom, which is why our Death Mountain Chasm guide will come in handy. We’ll take you through the best approach and where to go in the subterranean realm beneath the volcano.

You get to the Death Mountain Chasm after you defeat Moragia, which opens up the Gloom infested pit. As it’s right underneath the volcano, things get pretty hot down there, so the Flamebreaker armor is a must.

You’ll start by diving down into the chasm, so make sure that you avoid the lava streams along the way. At the bottom, you’ll need to take out your glider to land, but getting this right can be the difference between an easy route through the Depths and a tougher approach to the next temple.

Where to land in the Death Mountain Chasm

When you drop into the depths and take out your glider, you really want to aim for the island with the lightroot on it. This will start you off with a good amount light for the area and save you from having to do a huge jump and glide over from one of the more isolated islands out in the lava.

However, if you do find yourself there then you can either follow along with the video below to see the exact jump and glide that you need to make to get over or you can fast travel out and start the descent again. The latter might be your only option if you haven’t already been to the Wind Temple and picked up Tulin’s ability.

Where to go in the Death Mountain Chasm

When you get to the Mustis Lightroot, you’ll find Yunobo waiting for you and you’ll get a little sequence saying you need to come to them. It gives you a little view up to the level that you’re aiming for in the Death Mountain Chasm, so head out in that direction. Again, if you’re not too sure where you need to go you can check the video at 5:00.

Use Yunobo’s rock smashing ability to clear the red marbled rocks out of the way and defeat the enemies on the other side. You’ll then find a devices dispense to the right of there and you can throw in some Zonai items to get a batch of devices.

If you have enough items to be able to create a flying machine then you can do this to get up to the platforms above pretty easily. However, if you don’t then you can head past the dispenser towards the Poes and defeat the Fire Like guarding the way.

With that done, keep on heading up the slope towards the light above, defeating any other enemies on the way. You can then use Yunobo to smash more rocks in the way and come out on the level above facing the Fire Temple in the distance, which is what you should be aiming for.

There are some Horiblins lurking on a structure halfway there in the Depths of the Death Mountain Chasm, so you can either fight them or give them a wide berth to avoid them. You’ll then have some more rocks for Yunobo to smash through and this will lead you to a ramp path going up to the temple.

You can do a little exploring to get some extra weapons and Poes if you need them, but ultimately, you just need to head up the sloping path to the Fire Temple to start the next challenge in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

As with the other temples in the game, there are a series of mechanisms to activate to complete it. This will involve a lot of complex puzzles, so we’ll be continuing with our guide to help you through that section next.
