The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Moragia guide How to defeat Moragia, TotK

Some of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom bosses seem completely impossible to defeat to begin with and that’s definitely the case with Moragia. The good news is that it’s actually on of TotK’s easiest big beasts to beat and the tips in the guide below will show you how to get the job done.

You get to Moragia when you take on the Goron City Regional Phenomena, just after you defeat Yunobo and sort out his whole rock meats sweats problem. However, things don’t end there as it results in Death Mountain erupting and spewing out this huge three headed magma boss.

The reason it seems so indestructible is that it burns you to death as soon as you touch it. If that isn’t enough, you need to be able to get close to it to do any damage, so it’s this sort of catch-22 situation. The solution is ridiculously simple, but unless you know it’s easy to end up trying to scramble to find some king of way to walk on Moragia.

How to defeat Moragia

Our guide on how to defeat Moragia in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom will not involve any particular kind of heat defense mechanism. We spend ages trying this and it’s a dead end that won’t actually help you out against the boss of Death Mountain.

Instead, you need to navigate the surroundings without actually touching Moragia and to do this to begin with you need to climb on the rocks that don’t incinerate you as soon as you touch them. Do this and head over the peaks to the start of the boss fight with the monster.

If you’re not too sure about which way to go, you can check out the route in the video below, which will also show you the full fight, so that you can see the tips in action. If you keep on heading over to the right, you’ll eventually find another level ground below and down there you’ll find a Wing.

This is the answer to how to defeat Moragia in TotK, because you actually need to fly up to its three heads to be able to do any damage whatsoever. As soon as you find them, you’ve got everything you need to get in your damage and beat the beast.

The Wings come equipped with fans, a control pad and wheels, so they don’t even need a runway to get into the air, so there’s no need to use Ultrahand to pick it up and put it on the tracks like you did up at the Great Sky Island. Once you’re in place you can activate the device with the control pad and this will see you heading out into the air.

Use your controls to fly upwards with it and don’t worry about the battery because it’s got a big one bolted onto it, so it will be more than enough to finish the boss fight. It’s one of the most conveniently placed solutions in TotK, but if you’re not too sure how to use a Wing it can still be a bit tough to secure the win.

Use up and down to control height and left and right for pitch. Aim up and towards one of Moragia’s heads and as you fly up Yunobo will take up position at the front of the wing in spin form ready to attack.

Line up the Wing to face the head and when you get close enough you can press the A button to fire Yunobo at it to do your first damage. You’ll need to avoid any of it’s molten shots, but these are pretty slow and not on target at all so you shouldn’t have any difficulties with this.

With one of Moragia’s heads down, it’s simply a case of replicating the process with the other two. Flay up to them in turn, fire Yunobo them and move on to the final head to defeat the Death Mountain boss once and for all.

After this, you’ll open up a new Gloom chasm down into the Depths of Death Mountain, so you’ll need to head down to take on the next section of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. This will see you making your way to the Fire Temple, which has some challenging puzzles.

How to get to Moragia

If you’re early on in our guide for TotK, then you might be wondering how you get to Moragia. You get to it by taking on the Goron City Regional Phenomena, which will see you making your way to the location following markers on the map.

When you get to Goron City it turns out that little Yunobo is all grown up and chief and he’s been corrupted. You need to make it to his headquarters following the map prompts and there you’ll get the Flamebreaker Armor to protect you when you go to confront him.

This will result in a mini boss fight with Yunobo, but it’s an easy one. If you’re struggling with it, you can see our mini guide over on our The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom bosses page. After you defeat Yunobo, his corrupted daze disappears and you head off to Death Mountain to follow Zelda. It’s at this point that the fight with Moragia Kicks in.

It’s worth bearing in mind that the area around Death Mountain Chasm is also home to the Rock Octorok, so you might want to do a little exploring the paths down the mountain after you defeat Moragia. You can drop your weapons in front of them and they’ll repair them and sometimes upgrade them, so it’s useful to have a few locations to go for any time you need it.

Once you make it through the Death Mountain Chasm Depths you’ll get to the next of TotK’s temple challenges. You’ll need to be able to open all of the locks to progress, so check out our Fire Temple walkthrough if you need any pointers.
