The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom how to get the glider?

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom how to get the glider?

If you’ve made your way through a fair amount of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and you’re starting to wonder how to get the Glider, don’t fret, all is not lost. In the previous game you get it to be able to get off the Great Plateau, but that’s not the case with the Great Sky Island of TotK.

The good news is that all is not lost and with the details below you’ll be gliding around to your heart’s content. For a second we were worried that we’d missed it entirely, so when we found the solution it was a pretty big moment.

Falling to the ground in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom for ages is no fun, so the glider makes a big difference when you get it. There are a few things that haven’t carried over from Breath of the Wild, but the glider isn’t one of them, thankfully.

How or where to get the Glider?

You start out in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom on the Great Sky Island and you’ll need to visit a series of Shrines to get your new abilities and build up the strength to open the door to the Time Temple. Once you’ve done that it’s time to head on down to the surface of Hyrule, so you might have been expecting to pick up the glider at this point.

However, that’s not the case. Instead, what you do is dive down to the surface and you need to land in water to prevent instant death. I that isn’t enough, there’s plenty that you’ll be able to do on Hyrule if you’re a bit of an explorer before you even get the chance to unlock the glider.

What you need to do is to head for Lookout Landing in Hyrule Field and it’s here that you’ll get the ability that helped to make The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild such an amazing game. However, it doesn’t come instantly, so again you might be a little perplexed as you get sent to talk to Hoz, who is leading the search party at the castle.

You need to complete this first, so once that’s done for Purah, head back to her in Lookout Landing and talk to her and then she’ll send you to the shelter. It’s in the middle of the location, so head on over and have a little look and then you can return to Purah.

She’s at the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower and this is where you get the glider in Tears of the Kingdom. With the tower ready, you can use your Purah Pad to connect to it and get blasted up into the air to scan the surrounding environment to update you map.

The only reason that they haven’t as of yet is because they need your glider skills to be able to do it. This is when Purah gives it to you and then you just need to step into the tower, which will blast you up into the air to complete the scan.

You’ll use the glider to head back down and it’ll be completely unlocked for the rest of your time in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. You’ll then be sent off to explore and to investigate weird things around Hyrule, which we’ll let you discover for yourself.

However, if you want some pointers on what to do first in the game, you can check out our guide with the link below. You can also find out more about some of the best armor you might want to pick up early on too.

There are then a series of the Skyview Towers for you to find and they’re good ways to get good height to start you off in the glider. With no Revali’s Gale in TotK you need all of the opportunities you can get to launch up high.

Does the glider work the same in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

For the most part, the glider is pretty much identical in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom compared to Breath of the Wild. However, there are a few things that appear to be a little different, so it’s worth spending a little time first getting to grips with it once again.

For us, the biggest difference is that it doesn’t look like you can use the lift from camp fires to get high up in the air like you could last time around. It’s might still be possible, but we haven’t been able to get it to work just yet, so we’ll keep you posted on this if we discover some good options.

A solution to this is just to fast travel to one of the Shrines up in the sky and you’ll have as much height as you need. The other option is the Skyview Towers mentioned above, which will give you a good lift and when you get a rocket attachment for your hand you’ll also be able to blast off up into the air.

You can also use Recall on stones that are down on the ground and use them to ride up before jumping off to use the glider. It’s a bit fiddly, though, and there really aren’t that many of them, so the other options might be better.

The other change that we’ve noticed is that you can chain bullet time arrow shots as you glide. We haven’t had that many opportunities to use this yet, but we’re expecting it to come in handy before the end of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

We’ll update our guide as we discover additional details about the game. Check out our computer games section for more news and features on The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, or visit the official website at https://www.zelda.com/.
