Forspoken how to climb walls

Forspoken how to climb walls

Whether you played the demo or you’re starting on the full game you’re going to need to know how to climb walls in Forspoken. It’s a big open world you’ve got to explore and a lot of it is taken up with rocky, mountainous terrain, sheer cliffs and big bridges to fall off during battle.

However, in both instances, you just won’t have the skills to climb up wall to begin with, so here’s everything on how to unlock the various spells to make things easier. Obviously, you’ll be able to jump and parkour a little in the first instance, but without the right upgrades, you’re just going to stay on the ground.

You can try running up slopes to get to higher points that you can jump to, allowing you to get to some of the harder to reach places, but it’s way easier when you’ve got the right skills. These come in the way of Spell unlocks at founts you discover around the map, but they’re also linked to specific skill trees, so it isn’t as easy as just wandering around and hoping for the best.

Spells to allow you to climb walls

In general, there are three core spells that will make it easier to climb walls in Forspoken – Leap, Zip and Soar. There are a few others that will help you out, so we’ll cover these in the section below, but with these you’ll have the skills to get up to the majority of the high spaces of Athia.

The good news is that you get Leap relatively early on, but it is possible to miss it entirely if you’re a bit too single minded in terms of focusing on the core Forspoken campaign goals. Flow comes automatically as part of the introduction to Athia, which will give you general Parkour, but you’ll need Leap to add a little climbing ability into the mix.

You can find the spell at the Mulberry Fount just outside the gates of Cipal, which you should pick up the first time you head out into the Break. It gives you the ability to kick off walls in order to climb a little higher. It’s no good against anything sizable, but it’s a start.

However, you don’t get Zip and Soar until you’ve taken out the first Tanta. This is a part of the core campaign, so it’s impossible to miss, but it means a lot of ignoring cool things too high until you get to it.

If you’re wondering when you take on Tanta Sila, it’s in Chapter 4 in Praenost Castle, so if you make a bee-line through the main campaign activity, you’ll get these two quite quickly. If you’re having any difficulty beating Tanta Sila, you can check out the video below to see how to defeat her relatively easily.

Once she’s out of the way you’ll absorb her powers and that will give you Zip straight away, which gives you a grapple function to wall, enemies and climbable spikes. Aim at it and press Square on the PS5 and X on the Xbox Series S|X and you’ll fly up to it giving you either a spin function forward or a blast function upwards.

Combine this with Leap and that should allow you to climb up to the majority of the high points of Athia. It’s still not as good as it gets, though, and for that you also need to add in Soar, which is a bit like an upgraded Leap.

You can see this in the Tanta Sila skill tree, but it’s a question mark spell that you can only get from another fount. This time you’ll need to go looking for it a bit more, so it’s definitely easy to miss it.

You’re looking for the Rosewood Fount and it’s located in The Water Garden to the right of Marveil Bridge on the way to Avoalet Castle Town. You get to it naturally through the story campaign during Chapter 7, not too long after returning to Cipal after you beat Tanta Sila.

With Soar and Zip you’re now able to climb walls a whole lot easier. It’s far from a perfect system, though, because there will still be the occasional sheer face that you still can’t get to the top of, but that’s just the way Forspoken works.

More spells to help with climbing in Forspoken

The other spell you need to look for is Up and Away on the Tanta Prav skill tree. You just need Mana to unlock it, so no need to go hunting for a specific fount to add this to your climbing capabilities. You’ll need to defeat the Tanta to get her abilities, but by this stage you should be able to make light work of her.

It gives you the ability to leap high into the air, so that you can start climbing higher up. The other one that’s worth picking up is Float, again on the Tanta Prav skill tree, but this one is a fount spell, Lilac Fount, which is located in Inner Visoria, far to the south west. If you head west from the Three Tree Mountain Refuge you should be able to find it.

This means that you can float a little, which give you a minor glide ability, so you can cross chasms to reach even the most hard-to-reach climbing locations. It’s possible that there are more climbing skills to unlock, so we’ll add these in once the other Tantas have been defeated.

For now, that’s everything you need to know about how to climb in Forspoken. You can also check out our computer games section to keep tabs on other releases. Visit the official website at https://forspoken.square-enix-games.com/en-us/ for more details.
