How to get the Zonai Armor in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Here’s everything you need to know about how to get the Zonai Armor in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. This will give you one of the best looking armor sets in the game, but it also delivers huge Zonai battery benefits, so if you’re all about the devices then this is the armor for you.

It doesn’t take too long in the game before you hear a rumor about the mythical armor of the Zonai up in the Sky Islands, but there’s a lot of them to trawl. We’ll cover the details for the location for each of them starting out with the waist guard and the shin guards for the Zonai Armor, as these are the easiest to get to.

If you then save the helm to last you’ll have the benefits of the other two pieces of the Zonai Armor set to help you. Each one of them give you an extra level of Energy Up, so your devices will last for longer when you’re wearing them, so you can use the easier two to get to the head piece location.

How to get the Zonai Armor’s waist guard?

To get the first piece of the Zonai Armor in TotK, start out from the Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower to the west of Kakariko Village and blast up into the sky. Use the glider to fly east to the North Necluda Sky Archipelago and land on the central island with the dispenser.

This will also have a lift mechanism on it, so turn it to face the long waterfall you can see next to the large island structure high up in the sky to the south east with what looks like turrets coming out of its side. This should give you enough lift to get to the waterfall if you’ve got enough stamina wheels and you’ve unlocked the Zora Armor.

Ride up the waterfall with the Zora chest piece and if you need a stamina boost for the glider flight, a stamina meal should get you across the distance with Tulin blowing you along. If you haven’t got the Sage yet you might want to check out our guides on how to get to Rito Village and the Wind Temple.

You could use a device to fly over to the turret and if you need more battery you can check out the link below to help you with this. Another option is to use the Balloon Rocket on the island down and south east from the central island, which will give you even more height to get to the waterfall.

At the top of the waterfall you can attach the rockets to the edge of the floating platform to blast up and over to the island and use the glider to get the rest of the way. At the bottom level, you’ll find a Zonai activation switch, which will give you vents of air to ride up to the top using your glider and then you’ll have to sky dive through lasers to get down to the middle area.

If you’re struggling with the sky dive then you might benefit from the Glide Armor set, which you can get details on with the link below. Once you’re at the bottom you can trip the switch to open the gate and there’s the Yansamin Shrine here too, but you don’t need to complete it to the the Zonai Armor waist guard.

Instead, what you need to do is get down to the lava area and use an ice arrow on it to create a walkway under the overhanging Zonai inscribed box room next to the shrine. Ascend up into it and here you’ll find the The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom’s Zonaite Waistguard.

How to get the Zonai Armor’s Shin Guard?

For the second piece of the Zonai Armor, you need to make it to the Tabantha Sky Archipelago to the north of Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower. Use the tower to get up to the series of rockets on floating platforms, which you can ride up to the Archipelago.

You’re aiming for the most northerly Sky Island, which is called Lightcast Island and when you land on top you can see a light shining into the middle of the island. Activate the Zoanai switch to lower the water and then blast through the rocks blocking the light to get into the middle of the island.

Connect the mirrors through the cave structure to thread the light around to the right until you get it to the end trigger. This will give you a ledge above to use Ascend to get to and here you’ll find the Zonaite Shin Guards for the next piece of the armor set.

For the last piece of the Zonai Armor set, you can start out at the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower. Blast up into the sky and use the glider to get to the Sokkala Sky Archipelago to the south east.

Use the life block to fly up above the ball structure and land on the island with the wings on it. Attach a fan and use this to fly on over to the islands to the north east, which are called Sky Mine. Wear the two other Zonai Armor pieces to make you battery last for longer and you can use the link above to see how to get more battery if you need it.

This should be enough to land on the lowest island with the shrine on it. Activate the Zonai switch to get the lift black blasters to get as high up as you can go. Use the last one to fire a block into the hole in the side of the ball structure above and then blast up there yourself to place the block on the switch.

You then need to Ascend out and use the glider to get to the level below. Here you’ll get the chest that gives you the Zonaite Helm. This will complete the Zonai Armor set and when you wear all three you get a set bonus that increases your battery charge speed.
