The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Water Temple guide – How to turn on all faucets

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Water Temple guide How to turn on all faucets

Once you make it past the nasty Sludge Like, you have to take on the puzzle challenge of the Water Temple in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. As with the Wind Temple, there are four mechanisms you need to activate to complete the TotK equivalent to dungeons.

We’ll start by taking you through all of the puzzles you need to solve for each of the mechanisms. When you activate them you add more water going into the giant jug at the top of the temple and when you get them all it’s enough to wash away the source of the sludge.

This will then trigger the Water Temple boss fight against the strange Mucktorok, so we’ll talk you through how to beat the beast. It’s got a couple of phases and two distinct forms, so the section at the bottom of our guide should help you defeat the slippery monster.

Water Temple Faucet #1

To turn on the first of the Faucets at the Water Temple, head to the back left and use the glider to get across to the floating islands. Defeat the constructs and shoot a water fused arrow (fuse with either a Mark of the King, chuchu or Splash Fruit) at the blocked fish mouth on the island above. This will reveal a waterfall, which you can swim up using the Zora Armor to get a chest.

You can then use the glider to get back down and use another water fused arrow to unblock the bubble machine. Use Ultrahand to carry the ball over to it and put it in a water bubble to get it up to the next level above.

Follow it up in a water bubble of your own and then use Ultrahand to move the floating block to the top of the lifting door mechanism. You can then lift the door up and attach it to the floating block to keep it up for long enough to put the ball in the switch and use Sidon’s ability to activate the first of the Water Temple’s faucets.

Water Temple Faucet #2

Head back to the central island, defeat the constructs and go to the top right where you can shoot out another sludge block on a fish head to swim up the waterfall with the Zora Armor. This will take you up to the level above where there’s a Fire Like to beat, giving you another of the Water Temple chests.

You can then use Recall on the bubble falling down from the next island above to ride it up. To activate the faucet (or tap as we say in the UK), you attach paddles to the water wheel to create power for the mechanism.

You then need to use Ultrahand to carry a water bubble to the gap between the two power connectors. This will transfer the power and open the door to the switch for the faucet and you just use Sidon’s ability again to trigger it.

Water Temple Faucet #3

To activate the third of the Water Temple faucets, glide back down to the level where you defeated the Fire Likes and use TotK’s Ascend function to get up to the level above. Jump up to the next level with the water and defeat the chuchus and construct to clear the area.

Use ultrahand to position the stone slab in the corner to send the water bubble up into the air and ride one to get the chest. It can be a bit tricky to get the angle right, so if you’re struggling you can see the video walkthrough guide for the Water Temple below, just before the tips for the boss fight.

You then need to build a high platform on the block next to the spinning mechanism and climb higher with one of the floating blocks. Again, this is challenging, but you can see it in the video at 20:42.

What you’re trying to do is to get high enough to move one of the water bubbles to splash away the mud in the center of the spinning block. This will then reveal a switch, which you can high jump to with the special physics of the Water Temple and go into bullet time with an arrow shot as it’s spinning to hit the switch. This will open the door for the mechanism for the faucet, so head on over and use Sidon’s ability to activate it.

Water Temple Faucet #4

The last of the Water Temple Faucets is located underneath the central platform. Jump off the side to the top left and use the glider to get down to the path below. Use Sidon’s ability to get through the flames and you’ll find yourself inside.

Use the floating blocks to get across to the ball and pick up the chest on the way. Throw the ball over the spikes, glide over with it and use the floating blocks to get it up to the next level.

You can see this for yourself in the walkthrough guide video at 27:15. To get it to stay in the switch, you need to attach the ball to one of the floating blocks before putting it in place and this will see you completing the 4th faucet, so you can head back to the central platform and activate them to set you up for the boss fight.

Water Temple boss guide

To defeat the Water temple boss, it’s just a case of hitting it with a water shot using Sidon’s ability, hitting the blob-head fish thing that appears to know it down for some free damage. However, as with all The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom bosses there’s a bit more complexity in the second phase.

The Mucktorok throws out way more sludge, so it’s harder to move and if that isn’t enough, it uses the mud to swim away when in blob form. You can use Sidon’s water move to clear away more of the mud, but you’ll find it easier to get the Mucktorok with an area of affect arrow when it starts to swim away in the mud.

A good option is a bomb arrow or a electric arrow, as they both cover a good area. This should make it easier to defeat the Water Temple boss and move on to the next TotK Regional Phenomena.

You can also see the fight with the Mucktorok below, but the video doesn’t do the area of affect arrow shot in the second phase, so you should definitely go with that tip to make it easier. However, it does show you how to avoid all of the attacks, so it’s worth watching to help with that if you find yourself getting caught too much.
