Yrsa Sigurdardottir The Day Is Dark paperback release

Yrsa Sigurdardottir, The Day is LongWith three previous outings in the Thora Gudmundsdottir, Yrsa Sigurdardottir’s The Day Is Dark paperback release will come as a welcome return for its fans. With an otherworldly setting and chilling storyline, it’s go the makings of a great novel thriller.

The Day Is Dark follows Thora up to investigate the disappearance of 2 Icelandic workers in an isolated community up in the North-East of Greenland. Surrounded by a blanket of pure white, it’s what lies beneath the clean contours of the outpost that Thora will have to tackle if she is to get to the bottom of the mysterious disappearance.

Hostility from local inhabitants and the possibility that the remaining team of workers could be harbouring the root of the crime makes for a tense environment. It’s got shades of The Wicker Man, and the isolation of 30 Days of Night, which is a combination that will hopefully eclipse some of the comparisons to Stieg Larsson and his Girl That Played With Matches series, resulting in a much more impressively atmospheric read.

Yrsa Sigurdardottir’s The Day Is Dark has a paperback release date of the 12th April 2012. Though it’s writer has got arguable the most difficult name in the world to say comfortably in conversation without a good helping of Rain Man-like skills (de… definitely Yrsa Sigurdardottir), The Day Is Dark looks set to be one of the best of the Thora Gudmundsdottir series.
