New Order announce new album, Music Complete

New Order, Music CompleteNew Order are about to bring the noise once again with the announcement of a new album called Music Complete set for release later this year. For fans of the band it’s been a long old wait since their last new record, 2005’s Waiting For The Sirens To Call, but they will finally get a little joy back with eleven new tracks on the album (check out the track list below) and surely live performances to follow.

It will be making its way to a record store near you on the 25th September 2015 as the Mancunian band make their debut with their latest record label, Mute. It will be available on CD, digital download and limited edition clear vinyl LP, along with an exclusive deluxe vinyl collection that includes the album plus extended versions of all of the eleven tracks on coloured vinyl, making up the eight-piece set.

In the New Order statement announcing Music Complete, the band stated that the new album will see them combine rock guitars and electro with much more balance, favouring neither one nor the other. It’s a smart departure for them, giving them an opportunity to bring together their two previous styles into a hybrid that contains elements of both in good measure.

However, no music or demos have been released as of yet, so we’ll have to wait to get a listen to what this actually means for the end product. There are no tour dates or gigs officially confirmed either, but it’s only a matter of time before they’re out, so we’ll update here with the latest, along with any single music that are released in the build up to the September launch.

The band has a different line-up these days though following the departure of Peter Hook in 2007, but Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris, who set the band up with Peter after the tragic end of Joy Division back in 1980, continue to keep the band going. Gillian Gilbert, who made her return to the band in 2011 following a ten year break, gets a chance to go back into the studio again for the first time since Get Ready in 2001. Tom Chapman took over bass duties from Hook in 2011 when the band reformed and continues the duties on Music Complete and Phil Cunningham continues his membership, having originally taken over from Gilbert.

Music Complete has been produced predominantly by the band itself, with the exception of Singularity and Unlearn This Hatred, which were produced by Tom Rowlands of Chemical Brothers fame, and Superheated has been added to by a little extra production might from Grammy-winning electronic musician Stuart Price. Art director and graphic designer Peter Saville was also back in action on the album to provide art direction once again, continuing his long-term creative collaboration that has seen him design many of the band’s album covers.

Track list:

1. Restless
2. Singularity

4. Tutti Frutti
5. People On The High Line
6. Stray Dog
7. Academic
8. Nothing But A Fool
