Doom Eternal Glory Kills – All GKs and how to do them

Doom Eternal kills

From what was inicially a packed schedule of game releases in Q1 2020, Doom Eternal is the only triple A title coming out in the first few months of the year, so here’s how to do a Glory Kill and a look at all of the big kills we’ve seen so far. The game itself will be coming out on PS4, Xbox ONE, Stadia and PC on the 20th March 2020, as well as the Nintendo Switch at an as yet undisclosed later date (probably just before Christmas).

What are Glory Kills

The joy of landing Glory Kills in Doom Eternal is clearly going to be a similar experience to the gory death finishers in Mortal Kombat. Essentially, when you’ve caned an enemy enough, they start to flag a big, giving you and you’re hyper modded Doomslayer the opportunity to saunter in over to the demon and initiate an epic finishing move that will see it being mown to shreds in mad kills detail.

The process essentially initiated a mini cutscene-style death for the enemy, leaving you protected from damage from other Demons around you while you finish the job off. The Kills don’t take too much time, so they’re not going to get in the way of the gameplay, but they do provide a fun new way of finishing Demons as you try to save the people of earth from underworld annihilation.

The cool thing about Glory Kills is that you get to decide when and where to use them, so if you love the extreme individual destruction of them then you can unleash at will, and you can find out more about how to do them in the section below. However, if they don’t suit your gameplay style then you can just give them a miss and finish your demon kills off with your favourite weapon and move on to the next mortally challenged victim.

How to do Glory Kills

If you’ve seen any of the trailers for Doom Eternal then you will be keen to try out some of the Glory Kills as soon as possible with the game launch. The good news is that you’ll be locked and loaded with them as soon as you fire up the gameplay and the process of how to land a GK is pretty easy, so it won’t take too long for it to become a seamless part of your gaming.

To start with, you need to stagger the demon you’re attacking. This will happen naturally as you chip away at them for some of the demons, but you can speed the process up massively by landing headshots or going after their weak spots. They’ll either be knocked back or take a knee, depending on the demon, and then you’ll see either a blue or yellowish glow around them, which means you can run on in to initiate the Glory Kill with the prompt.

You can also unlock Runes to boost your Kills with options to make them faster, so you can stack up the death count quicker, and to initiate them from further away, which will make it easier to activate them when you’re in a crush. There’s another Rune that will give you a speed boost after you hit up a GK, but the real sweet spot is the Rune that prolongs the time of stagger, which gives you more time to get in and complete Glory Kills.

All Glory Kills to-date

Okay, so GKs essentially change depending on the demon itself, so there’s a different one for each of them. Here are all of the Glory Kills that have been seen so far:

Unwilling – You rip its head off like it’s made from papier-mâché.

Cacodemon – Doomslayer tips his eyeball out and appears to tweak his nose really savagely.

Arachnotron – Continuing the rye gore theme, this move sees you grabbing one of the Arachnotron’s legs and jamming it into its own skull via its eye socket, which definitely gets the job done.

Hellknight – DS hits him up with the chainsaw through the shoulder blades and tares it upward to leave it flapping in the breeze before it collapses to the floor with a very satisfying thud.
