Fast X UK release date, age rating latest and more

Fast X UK release date, age rating

Back in the days of Police Academy 6 it seemed impossible for anything to top it in terms of sheer numbers, but here we are staring down the track at the Fast X UK release date (details below). So, we’ll cover off everything we know so far about the film, including the story, cast, age rating latest and runtime estimate.

It’s fair to say that the Fast and Furious series has a lot more credibility than the final throws of Police Academy did, but it’s still pretty impressive how many films there have been. When you throw in the spin-off Hobbs and Shaw that makes X the 11th film in the franchise.

Plot

This time around, Cypher (Charlize Theron) is back in the mix and she’s throwing Dante Reyes (Jason Mamoa) at Dom and the crew. He’s been working on his plan for revenge ever since the events of Fast Five when his drug lord father, Hernan Reyes, and associated crime family were destroyed by Dom and his team.

It’s going to be a globe trotting adventure that sees the car mayhem and destruction taking place in LA, Rome, Brazil, London, Portugal and even Antarctica. Things get turbo real when Dom finds out that Dante’s plans to enact his revenge mean that his 8-year-old son is in danger too.

He’ll need the entire crew to fight back against the onslaught in Fast X, but we know that things are coming to the end of the road for the series. There are bound to be a few tears along the way as things build to the culmination of it all in the coming years.

Cast

The Fast X cast is bigger than ever with Vin Diesel back at the helm as Dominic Toretto and Charlize Theron as his most dangerous enemy, Cypher. Jason Momoa (Aquaman 2) joins the cast as Dante Reyes, Brie Larson (The Marvels) stars as rogue agent Tess and Alan Ritchson plays Aimes, the new head of the Angency.

Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Daniella Melchior and Rita Moreno round out the cast as Roman Pearce, Ramsey, Mia Toretto, Han Lue, a Brazilian street racer and Abuela.

Fast X UK release date

Fast X UK release date has been announced by the franchise and it’s due out in cinemas on May 19th, 2023. This is the same date as it will be in theaters in North America, so there shouldn’t be that many story details to avoid online.

As things stand it’s the only big film out that weekend, so it should be an easy route to the number 1 spot in both the US and UK. It’ll only have the live action remake of The Little Mermaid to face the following week too, and they don’t exactly share the same audience.

As a result, it could have a lengthy stay at the top before Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse lands on June 2nd or Transformers Rise of the Beasts comes out on the 9th. It’s shaping up to be a big year for blockbuster movies, but with Avatar The Way of Water down as a 2022 film, Fast X could well be one of the highest grossing.

As things stand, Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania is at the top of the pile, but it’s far from huge in terms of numbers. We’ve still got the Super Mario Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to come in spring, along with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and The Flash in summer before Dune Chapter 2, Aquaman 2 and Wonka land in winter. Any one of these could take the 2023 #1 spot, including Fast 10.

If you’re planning on waiting for home entertainment or you’re looking to add the film to your 10-strong catalogue, the DVD, Blu-ray and standard digital release date should follow around September 2023. Home premier has been a bit hit and miss recently, with Avatar 2 skipping it entirely, so we’ll keep you posted.

UK and North America age rating and parents guide

The Fast X age rating has now been announced with the release date coming up and it’s been given a 12A certificate by the British Board of Film Classification. There was alread a lot to go, with 10 other films in the franchise, which tend to get a 12A certificate in the UK.

It’s equivalent to PG-13 in the US. F9 picked up a 12 and it was a similar case for Hobbs and Shaw, so that should give you the ballpark for 10 in North America.

The trailer contains the same kind of violence, action and threat as we’ve seen in previous films in the series, so there’s nothing significant to indicate that it will be different this time. The only consideration is whether or not the fact that we’re getting close to the end of the series will start to have an impact.

You’ve only got to look at the way things went in No Time To Die or Spider-Man No Way Home to see that when you get further into a franchise the stakes start to increase. If we end up saying goodbye to someone then that could influence the age rating, but we’re doubtful it would change much, if at all.

Runtime

As with the age rating, there was a wealth of films to look back on to give us an estimate for the Fast X runtime, but it has also been announced to be 2 hours and 21 minutes long. The first four films were sub two hours long, but since then it’s been around the 2 hours 15 minutes mark as an average, so the 10th main series film is a little over that.

F9 is still the longest to-date, clocking in at 2 hours and 23 minutes long, but with so many locations in X it came close to beating the previous film.

We’ll update you with more details on the film, especially the age rating, as they get confirmed. You can also check out our movie news section to keep up with the latest upcoming films, or visit the official Fast website at www.fastxmovie.com.

Trailer

The Fast X trailer is pretty long, so our biggest criticism is that it might give away too much of the story and too many of the big stunts. This might be a response to the dip in box office results for F9, but with the film out in 2021 during the pandemic it probably isn’t that relevant in terms of future success.

We’re still in a strange place in the movie business, but things aren’t what they were like in 2021, so maybe the production didn’t need to throw so much into the trailer. Either way, there’s definitely a lot packed in, so hopefully they’ve saved some unique moments for the film itself.

The stunts look big and the danger looks pretty real, despite Jasom Momoa looking a bit like a cross between Jake the Snake Roberts and Captain Jack Sparrow at times. Brie Larson and John Cena look like they’re bringing their acting A game and the locations look impressive, so Fast X looks set to be another win for fans of the series.
