Monster Hunter Stories 2 how to get bottle caps

If you’re just getting into the incredible depth and technical detail of Monster Hunter Stories 2 Wings of Ruin then you might be wondering to to get bottle caps. The rare commodity’s sole use it to exchange with the slightly dubious looking Melynx hanging around the villages and towns in the game, but with good loot on offer, its well worth working out where to get more of them.

You get your first batch really early on in the game, but the whole process is interrupted by the sudden appearance of a rage-fuelled Anjanath that seems to be randomly and inconveniently desperate to separate you from your prize. As it turns out, you still get a batch of bottle caps at the end of the quest, but the appearance overshadows the process, so it’s easy to be a little nonplussed.

The good news is that it’s way easier from hereon-in.

How to get bottle caps in the wild

If you weren’t too traumatized by the proceedings featuring the big bad Anjanath then you might already have an incline about what you’re meant to do. However, for everyone else, you essentially find bottle caps in the wild inside chests in Everdens. They’re a rare pickup, but if you cover all of the chests then you will come away with a handful of the suckers.

You can find everdens in every area you explore in Monster Hunter Stories 2 and the good news is that their locations stay the same, unlike normal monster dens, so you shouldn’t have too much difficulty tracking them down. In fact, the location is one of the many markers on the map, so you can head out to explore pretty easily.

More bottle caps

In addition to the Everden hunts, you can get a half decent supply of bottle caps from a number of the side quests that you can accept at the quest board in each of the villages or towns. You just need to give them a quick check over to see which ones give you them as rewards, because there aren’t lots of them available.

When you first start out in Wings of Ruin, you don’t have many side quests to accept, but as you progress and complete more of them in general, you’ll unlock higher rank quests. Keep checking back on the quest board to see if any of the new additions reward you with bottle caps as some of them can give you 10 for completing them, which is a good haul.
