Pokémon Legends Arceus how to find and farm Tumblestone and Apricorn to craft Poké Balls

As we start to get more details on Pokémon Legends Arceus, we find out more about the mechanics and one of the most important is how to find and farm Tumblestone and Apricorn to craft Poké Balls. You’ll obviously need a good supply of these if you’re going to fill up your Pokédex, so it’s going to be important to know how to stock up on them on a regular basis.

Pokémon Legends Arceus does things very differently from any other game in the series, so there’s a lot of new things to learn to get to grips with it. The reason for that is that the story is set before humans and Pokémon started to work together properly, so technology like Poké Balls are still in their infancy, so you can’t just head to your nearest Poké Mart to pick some up.

This is definitely going to take a number of old school fans of the series by surprise unless they’ve been keeping up with the latest news and videos for Pokémon Legends Arceus. To make things easier, though, we’ve put together this guide to how to find all of the resources you need and how to craft them to get you up and running fast.

How to find and farm Tumblestone

The good news is that everything is pretty easy once you know how. To start with, you’ll need a good supply of Tumblestone and you can find this in the red rock outcrops that you can see near to boulders. They look a little like the dens from Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Wild Areas, but instead of interacting with it yourself, you’ll need to send in a Pokémon.

Use L1 to focus in on it and with a party ‘mon selected throw it at the rock formation using R1 once you have the target over it. This will crack open the Tumblestone, which you’ll collect automatically. To farm this, you’ll be able to find the rocky bits all around the map, but Obsidian Fields is a good place to look for rocky sections that might have the red outcroppings at their base.

You should get around 5 Tumblestone for each rock that your Pokémon breaks and you’ll only need one of these to be able to craft a Poké Ball, along with the Apricorn, which you can read more about below. As a result, each rock that you smash will give you enough of the Tumblestone for 5 balls, so you should be able to farm a good batch of them with each trip into the Obsidian Fields.

How to find and farm Apricorn

To get Apricorn, it’s a similar story to Tumblestone, but instead of rocks to smash, what you need to do is get your Pokémon to shake dark trunk trees. Again, to do this you just need to target the tree by pressing and holding L1 and then firing your Pokémon at it by pressing R2 and they’ll take care of the rest.

This will dislodge the seeds from the tree, giving you 5 Apricorns for each shakedown. In terms of farming the crafting ingredient, trees are pretty abundant all over the place, so as soon as you know how to shake them you should be fine. However, if in doubt you can head to Obsidian Fields to get both Apricorn and Tumblestone in one fell swoop.

One thing to be aware of is that you can’t keep shaking the same tree over and over again to get more of the seeds. As soon as they stop falling it’s time to move on to the next tree as part of your farm efforts. You can see the Apricorns in and among the leaves, so if there are none then a shake will get you none.

As with the Tumblestone, you only need one Apricorn to craft a Poké Ball, so you should be able to amass a good supply with this method. However, you might also be surprised by a Pokémon or two up in the tree as well.

How to craft Pokémon Balls

Once you have a batch of both resources, you can then head to your base camp to use the work bench to craft the Poké Balls. Whenever you head out on an excursion your first stop will be one of the base camps, so you should be able to locate them pretty easily.

If this is your first time playing Pokémon Legends Arceus and you’re not too sure where to go within your base camp to craft, the thing that you need to aim for is the thing that looks like a picnic hamper with a wooden bench lying across it.

When you approach it, it will say Craft next to it and you’ll be able to confirm the selection with the A button. This will bring up the crafting menu and on the left you’ll have the items available to craft, which you can navigate around using the left directional stick.

When you’re on the item that you want to craft you can then see the resources you need on the right. You can also choose to craft more than one at a time by pressing A on the item and them using the directional stick to increase or decrease the amount of Poké Balls. With all of this you’ll be turning your farmed Tumblestone and Apricorn into Pokédex entries in no time.
