Pokémon Legends Arceus how to beat noble frenzy Lord Kleavor and can you catch it

Pokémon Legends Arceus how to beat and catch noble frenzy Kleavor, Lord of the Woods

Things are very different in Pokémon Legends Arceus, so when you get to the first Noble Pokémon, you might be unsure of how to beat Noble Kleavor. The game does a decent job of walking you through the entire process, but if you’re struggling and find yourself fainting before you can get close to defeating it, the tips below should help you out.

A big part of the problem is that this is a battle unlike any other you will have come up against in a Pokémon game. The reason for that is that there’s a strange phenomenon happening in the Hisui region that is making Noble Pokémon to become frenzied, so instead of just being a normal battle, it’s a wild ride that is closer to a boss battle than anything else due to their rampaging nature.

This means that there are a number of things for your to do to be able to calm Kleavor before you can land the catch for your first Noble as part of the Survey Corps. The complexity of these confrontations also includes an element of normal Pokémon battle, so it’s still important to take the right team into the fight to help you close it out quickly and reduce the chances of you fainting. You can also find out more about whether or not you can catch The Lord of the Woods in the section below and how to add it to your Pokédex.

How to stop noble Kleavor’s frenzy

As strange as it might sound, the way that you’re going to beat Kleavor is to calm it down enough to stop it from being frenzied and then you’ll be able to catch it. To do this, you’ll need to hit it with enough of the balm pouches that contain its favourite food in order to bring down it’s yellow meter at the top of the screen.

However, it doesn’t just stand there and let you fire balms at it with wild abandon. Instead, it will attack you in a frenzied rampage, so to start with you’re going to need to get into the habit of watching out for its pre-attack patterns and get ready to roll out of the way as it launches itself at you.

Kleavor is known as the Lord of the Woods, because it has huge cutting arms that can slash through tree trunks with ease. It’s these scimitar arms that it uses for it’s attacks, so look out for them and be ready to hit the Y button to dodge out of the way of them.

You’ll also need to use your directional stick wisely to ensure you’re always moving in a direction that is away from its attacks. Dodge rolling forward when Kleavor is coming right for you will only speed up the impact, so you’ll need to either aim to the left, right or backwards to get away from them.

Once you land the dodge, make sure you’re looking for a way to come back at Kleavor with the balms, so angle back towards it after it has passed you. Once you’re facing back at it you can press and hold ZL to focus on it and then start firing them until it starts a new motion to attack.

If you can get it to come at you and bang into the side wall or tree then it will become dazed and confused for a short period of time. This will give you free hits with the balms until he recovers, so it’s a good tactic to speed up the process and reduce the chances of getting smashed by it.

You should then be able to repeat all of this to chip away at the frenzy bar, which will go down with each and every direct hit with one of the balm pouches. You should be able to land at least 2-4 for each pass, but you’ll need to make a judgement on that each time to see how quickly Kleavor recovers and starts a new attack.

Part way through the frenzy bar, it will let down its guard, at which point you’ll be able to choose one of your Pokémon to fight it by throwing their Poké Ball at it. This will initiate more of a standard turn-based battle and the big tip here is that Kleavor is weak to water attacks, so Oshawott it a strong approach if you’ve got him. If not then either Bidoof or the Alpha Bibarel you can find just down the way from Kleavor’s clearing is a strong alternative.

Focus on water attacks and start with agile style to see how much damage you do. If it’s a good chunk then you can follow it up with strong style attack to finish it off, which will momentarily exhaust it giving you free hits with the balms. You should be able to fire seven off at it before it recovers and gets set for a return attack.

By this stage you should be around half way through its frenzy bar, so you’ll need to repeat everything above to take down the rest of it. Once the crazy haze of the frenzy mist has gone, the noble Kleavor will then calm down and give you a reward for your efforts to save him from hurting more people.

You can see the fight in action for yourself in the video below, which has more tips to take into account. There are then links at the bottom of the page for the rest of our guide to the game.

Can you catch noble Pokémon, Kleavor

Sadly, not. Once you’ve gotten rid of noble Kleavor’s frenzy, it will then return to its normal job of guarding the Pokémon Legends Arceus clan, so it doesn’t give you a chance to land a catch and add it to your Pokédex. However, there are less noble versions that can be evolved from Scyther.
