BBC 3 confirm Him & Her Series 4

Him & Her Series 4BBC3 has announced that it is picking up Him & Her Series 4 in what will be the final series for the Big Talk Productions comedy. Filming is set to begin during the summer with the closing six episodes of the Royal Television Award winning show airing in autumn and winter 2013.

All of the cast will be returning for the fourth and final series, including the lead roles of dead pan comedian Russell Tovey as Steve and Sarah Solemani as his girlfriend Becky. The pair won the RTA for Best Comedy Performance following the show’s debut in 2010, and the series and writer, Stefan Golaszewski, picked up a nomination for Breakthrough Talent at the 2012 BAFTA TV Awards.

If you’re not familiar with the series, it follows the lives of a sofa loving couple, Steve and Becky (AKA the him & her of the title) as they try to while away the hours watching DVD in their little bedsit. The addition of lonely neighbour Dan (Joe Wilkinson) and Becky’s sister Laura (Kerry Howard) and fiancée Paul (Ricky Champ) is more than enough reality for them to deal with, but things get to frightening levels of disturbance when the parents pierce their happy life of sloth.

With Paul and Laura’s wedding on the horizon, Steve and Becky are forced out of the comfort of their flat and into the big bad world to attend the joyous occasion. Writer Stefan Golaszewski says: “After three series in Steve and Becky’s bedsit, we’re moving them into the outside world as we reach the final chapter of their story. It’s been a great few years and I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with such a talented team.”

Director Richard Laxton, who presided over the previous three series, will be returning to finish off the final six 30 minute episodes of series 4. Big Talk Productions’ CEO Kenton Allen and Lyndsay Robinson will once again be producing the comedy.

If you’ve missed the first three series of Him & Her, you should be able to catch up on the show on the BBC3 section of iPlayer. The first two are available on DVD already with the third expected shortly.
