Men In Black 3 release date and trailer

Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in Men in Black 3Yeah, you read right and if you’ve seen anything in the cinema recently, you will have probably seen at least some of the trailer, because Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are dusting off their wicked crickets to battle big ugly mothers from outer space in Men In Black 3. It’s been nearly ten years since the second in the series came out, so it’ll be interesting to see whether or not the concept still works.

Set for general release on the 25th May 2012, MIB 3 will bring a new addition to the shade wearing, extra-terrestrially focused servicemen in Josh Brolin as a younger version of Tommy Lee Jones’ Agent K.

The plot revolves around Agent J’s (Will Smith) discovery that K and the entire planet are at risk, which forces him to time travel back to 1969 to save the world and his old buddy from disaster. It’s like they’ve taken the brilliance of Galaxy High, X-Files and Back to the Future and thrown it into one big melting pot. On paper that doesn’t sound like a bad thing to be honest.

With the addition of Emma Thomson to the mix as MIB agent in the present and her MIB secretary character in the past played by Alice Eve, more advanced CGI and the prospect of MIB 3D action, it could be one of the early summer’s must see films. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also Nicole Scherzinger, Bill Hader and Jemaine Clement (of Flight of the Concords fame) to add their respective might to the movie. Hopefully, there’ll be scenes where Will Smith gets hit-on by a young Vivienne, has to take to the stage in 1969 and sing Boom Boom Sha-Shake the Room and manages to stop Boris (Clement), the nasty alien in Men In Black 3, with encephalopod feces.

The scenes in the trailer don’t necessarily look amazing, especially Big Willy’s “comedy moments”, but maybe they’re saving the good stuff for the film.
