Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart how to land Trudi and use her to get Zerpstones

If you’ve made it to the end of Sargasso in Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and started collecting Zerpstones then you might be wondering how to land Trudi and use her properly to complete the optional side quest for Mort. To save you from a little frustration, you can read below everything that you need to know about flying Trudi and collecting all of the Zerpstones without any complications.

There are a lot of Zerpstones dotted all around the map, but the ones high up seem impossible to get to without an alternative method of landing Trudi. If you could just put her down anywhere then the challenge would be a doddle right from the very beginning, but that’s just not the way things go down.

Instead, there’s a very specific mechanism to picking up the strange, purple flower, fruit, gemstone hybrid. There are no tells in the dialogue in Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart early on the quest, so it’s easy to be a bit nonplussed about what you’re supposed to do. However, if you manage to make it through it with the tips below, but you still need some of the collectibles then you can check out the Sargasso walkthrough to see it all.

How to land Trudi

The only way to land Trudi is on her perches. You can see them quite easily, but there are only so many of them, so they don’t give you access to all of the Zerpstones. To land on one of the perches, you just steer the Trudester with the analogue stick in their direction and press square when you get close.

As you approach, you should see the prompt to press squat to make the landing, but sometimes it just doesn’t show up, so it’s easy to fluff it. This is usually to do with the camera angle, so make sure to keep looking straight ahead at the perch to save yourself from having to come back around for another pass.

How to use Trudi to get Zerpstones

By the time you get enough Zerpstones to bring Trudi back from her malnourished lethargy, you should have found a good number of them growing at ground level. For the most part, these are easy to get going by foot to start with and then using the perch method mentioned above to land her on the perches dotted around the map.

However, that will only get you so far, but the good news is that you only need to find around 45 using those two methods and you’ll then unlock Trudi’s ultimate ability to shoot out fireballs. This might sound like a fun way to smash up Nefarious’ army, but it’s actually a neat way to pick up the rest of the Zerpstones.

Essentially, once you unlock this, you can lock onto Trudi’s one and only food source and blast it with a fireball like they’re womp rats. This might seem like a waste of fresh fruit and/or vegetables, it actually results in them flying up to you like they’ve suddenly become magnetised to Trudi’s gullet. Needless to say, she chomps them down and they’re added to your tally, but if you’re struggling with any of the challenge, you can see it being completed from start to finish below.
