Rob Brydon’s The Guess List coming to BBC One

Rob BrydonRob Brydon’s will be cwtching into the prime-time BBC One slot on Saturday nights with his new entertainment show, The Guess List, when spring finally arrives, blooming with his big beaming grin like a freshly flowered daffodil on a sunny morn. The new quiz show is his latest venture as the host with the littlest voice in comedy and the spot looks set to be his biggest TV gig to-date.

Rob will welcome two contestants onto the show each week as they go at each other in a bid to win a prize that has been specially created just for them. This puts a whole lot more competition in the mix as the winner will get something that they genuinely want, and the loser will miss out on something that’s been customised to their tastes, as opposed to a speed boat Bullseye look what you could have won situation.

The contestants won’t be completely on their own though as Rob will also be recruiting five famous faces to the show every week to help them guess the answers to the question. These will be made up of Brydon’s showbiz pals from the worlds of sport, music, TV and the movies so we could see anyone from Mike Tyson to Scarlett Johansson, although it’s probably more likely to be Lee Mack and Eddy the Eagle Edwards.

The celebs will also have to face a few of the questions themselves on behalf of the contestants, and there’s bound to be a fair number of terrible answers on both sides of the fence.

It’s hard to say how good The Guess List is going to be, but bearing in mind some of the other shows Rob has hosted – The Rob Brydon Show, and Would I Lie to You – we’re backing it to be a possible gem of Saturday night entertainment. He’s also been a comedy legend in the likes of Marion and Geoff, Gavin and Stacey and The Trip, so we’re expecting a lot of laughs from the new show.

The Guess List has been taken up as six episodes on the back of the pilot and each one will crammed with 40 minutes of Rob Brydon-based fun and probably a fair bit of contestant and celebrity heckling along the way. It’s scheduled to air on BBC 1 in the Spring, and as soon as we have details on the dates, we’ll update them here.

Talking about the new show, Rob Brydon commented, “I loved making the pilot for The Guess List and can’t wait to get started on the first series.” Same here Robert. Same here.
