Skyfall release date and teaser trailer

Daniel Craig, Skyfall trailerThe James Bond Skyfall teaser trailer has now been released and from the look of things it could be one the best yet. Though the teaser trailer isn’t necessarily all gold, it’s got more than enough class to ramp up the excitement in the run-up to the Skyfall release date on the 26th October 2012.

From the look of the trailer, Skyfall is going to be action packed, dark and brooding, combining the best elements of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Though the line, “there are men coming to kill us… but we’re going to kill them first”, isn’t necessarily the best to lead on, the rest of the trailer manages to make up for its minor shortfall.

There’s not much in the way of Bond girl action in the teaser trailer, just a couple of fleeting shots, but with Naomie Harris as field agent Eve and Bérénice Marlohe playing the sultry Severine, there’s bound to be a couple of longer trailers featuring the pair.

What does come across is the evolving maternal relationship that seems to be developing between Bond and M (Judy Dench) in the latest incarnation of 007. With M at the centre of the storyline with secrets from the past floating up from the murky depths and an attack on MI6 HQ, London forms a large part of the setting of the film. With the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee both falling in the same year, it’s probably the best time to include so much of the city.

However, while there is plenty of evidence of Javier Bardem’s criminal mastermind destruction in the trailer, there are no shots to hint at his overall look and feel, unless he’s the darkened shadowy figure strolling out of wreckage. He’s undoubtedly going to be the crux of the quality of the film, do it’ll be interesting to see how he shapes up.
