Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker game options

Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker game

If you’ve seen the film and want to be able to play a Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker game, the reality is that there isn’t one alone that focuses just the events of the last entry in the Skywalker saga. However, the good news is that there are a few options to choose from to get a taste of the action, throwing you into elements of the film like a pick ‘n’ mix of Force fun.

Gone are the good old days of yore when every Star Wars film was accompanied by a corresponding video game that lets you play along with the action. When you looks back at the side-scrolling blaster adventure of Super Star Wars, Super Empire Strikes Back and Super Return Of the Jedi you can see that they really went to town for the original trilogy.

Things started to change with the prequel trilogy, which only spawned Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace video game for PC and PlayStation console. It had no sequels for the next two films and then The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi followed suit with no dedicated game release.

The shining light exception to this is the Star Wars Lego series, which has already covered the opening two trilogies in a roundabout way. There’s also going to be a game that features the final trilogy, which will include the events in The Rise of Skywalker and you can find out more about it below, along with the other options for the trilogy finale.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

While this will span all nine films in the Skywalker Saga, it’s pretty much your only option to experience story elements for both The Last Jedi and The Rise Of Skywalker. The Force Awakens had its own stand-alone Lego game, so elements of that will be re-jigged and included in the game.

You’ll be able to play any of the nine Episodes in any order you want, so you’ll be able to dive straight into the end of the saga if you want. It’ll have its own hub and 5 planet levels to explore. It may not be a dedicated title, but it should be a lot of fun.

Star Wars Battlefront II The Rise Of Skywalker expansion

This is essentially a Rise Of Skywalker update to the main title, which originally came out a couple of years ago for the Xbox ONE and PS4. The update follows on from The Last Jedi expansion and brings the jungle planet from the film to the game, along with both the new Resistance and First Order To battle with.

You’ll also get some new sequel trilogy reinforcements like the red-armoured Infiltrator class Sith trooper, along with hero appearances from Finn, Rey and Kylo Ren.

Fortnite X Star Wars event

This is sadly a time-bound event featuring characters from Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker, but it’s well worth getting involved in while it’s on. You can take on Storm Troopers around crashed TIE Fighter sites and take their blasters for infinite laser ammo. You can also find lightsabers in loot chests that act pretty much as they do in the films with the added ability to do force jumps, which are pretty cool.

If that isn’t enough there are also a host of challenges to complete to win items for the game, as well as buying skins for characters from the film.
