Dave Gorman completes Modern Life is Goodish for Dave

Dave Gorman Modern Life is GoodishDave Gorman, the man made famous by his PowerPoint presentation comedy style and a penchant for outrageous bets, has just finished filming for his latest adventure, Modern Life Is Goodish. The new series coming to Dave (the TV station, not Gorman’s imaginary goggle box) is all about the amazing technological advancements and innovations that we have at our disposal in modern life, but how deeply flawed they are at the same time.

The six part series was inspired by Dave’s last stand-up comedy tour, PowerPoint Presentation, trailing the swathes of misinformation and rubbish available online that you need to wade through to get anywhere near the truth or something genuinely useful. With information, data and rumours only a few seconds away in modern times, but with so many perils and pitfalls intrinsic in it, the question is would we just be happier and better informed with less advanced technology like books, newspapers and travelling tales or is the modern life high-tech reality just a more advanced stage of what has always been the case.

The filming for Modern Life is Goodish has just finished, taking place at the Tabernacle in Notting Hill, London, and the show will be going out on Dave throughout September and October. The short series features Dave up on stage with his laptop once again, recorded with a live audience, as he does what he does best; talk about his experiences in life through the medium of technology.

The surroundings of the Tabernacle were chosen to help Dave recreate the feeling of live stand-up that he only gets to experience when he’s on tour. It should give anyone that missed his PowerPoint Presentation gigs a chance to see what it’s like to see the man’s pointer in a live environment. For anyone that would have liked to have been in the audience for real, the shows are often released as free to attend, so check out Dave G’s mailing list at https://www.davegorman.com/contact.html to put your name down for the next offering.

If, for whatever reason, you’ve missed out on the wonderful world of Dave Gorman’s comedy in the past, you can catch up a little in advance of Modern life is Goodish with his 2011 book, Dave Gorman vs The Rest of the World. The book is the culmination of a period in the comedian and writer’s life in which he challenged people to games through the medium of the internet, leading to some pretty epic Scrabble, frisbee and darts.
