Maleficent 2 Mistress Of Evil DVD release date UK and when is it out on iTunes, Blu-ray, digital release and rental

Maleficent 2 Mistress of Evil UK DVD Blu-ray and digital release

If you fell for the dark arts of Angelina Jolie in the first film then the sequel, Maleficent 2 Mistress Of Evil DVD, Blu-ray and digital release date (UK details below) will be one pencilled heavily into your book of spells with the broken splinter of a spindle. Despite the hopeful ending of the previous story, it looks like Maleficent will be embracing her evil side, which looks pretty interesting and should make it a big arrival to buy or rent on iTunes and Amazon Prime Video.

Angelina Jolie is one of the best known actresses in Hollywood, but she hasn’t had a huge film since Unbroken, which came out in 2014, the same year as Maleficent (Kung Fu Panda 3 doesn’t really count as an animated voice role). However, it looks like she’s back in style with the upcoming release of Mistress Of Evil and then there’s her starring role as Thena in new Marvel Cinematic Universe addition The Eternals, which will be coming out in winter 2020.

She will be joined by previous cast members Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora, Sam Riley as shapeshifter Diaval, and Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Leslie Manville as the fairies Knotgrass, Thistlewit and Flittle. New additions to the cast include Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith, along with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Harrison Dickinson and Ed Skrein.

The story picks things up with Aurora and Maleficent five years after the end of the opening film as a proposal from Prince Philip (Dickinson) sends shock-waves throughout the land. The Mistress Of Evil doesn’t much like the idea and it all looks set for all out war between humans and the magical creatures with Queen Ingrith stoking the fires of discontent as part of her own plans for division and domination.

DVD, iTunes, Xbox ONE, PS4, Amazon and digital rental release date UK

The Maleficent Mistress Of Evil DVD and Blu-ray release date UK has been confirmed for Monday the 17th February 2010, following on from its cinematic debut in Autumn 2019. It’s a pretty big release with a lot of fans from the first film, so there will also be 4K Ultra HD and 3D Blu-ray versions to go along with the standard definition of the DVD and the HD resolution of the Blu-ray.

Its iTunes and Amazon Video digital release to buy will be two weeks prior to this, so you can expect it to come out right at the end of January 2020, making it one of the first Bill films of the year. However, digital rental will be available on the same date as the DVD and Blu-ray, so you should be looking at the 17th February again, but as ever we’ll update with more details once they’re confirmed by the powers that be at Amazon and iTunes.

Maleficent Mistress Of Evil home entertainment runtime and digital file size

Maleficent 2 has a runtime of 1 hour 58 minutes, so it’s a mid-range film that will hopefully give enough time to build towards the climax without leaving much in the way of fat in the mix. This will equate to a digital file size of around 5Gb at 1080p in high definition, 4.4Gb at 720p HD and 2Gb in standard definition. If you’re planning to buy the digital version then check your PC, Mac, PS4 or Xbox ONE hard drive for space before you download.

You can follow the official Maleficent Twitter page at https://twitter.com/Maleficent to see more on the home entertainment release prior to its arrival.

UK cinema release date

Maleficent 2: Mistress Of Evil had a UK release date of Friday the 18th October in cinemas. It came out in the USA and Canada on the same date as the UK, so there shouldn’t be any spoilers to look out for online. It had competition from Farmageddon A Shaun the Sheep Movie and Zombieland: Double Tap, which are both out the same week on the big screen, but Angelina Jolie and the dark story surrounding her in the film was enough to take the number 1 spot.

Maleficent Mistress Of Evil age rating

The Maleficent 2 age rating hasn’t been confirmed as of yet for the UK by the British Board of Film Classification, but it should be a similar certification to the first film, which was a PG. It had mild violence, threat and scary scenes as it’s parents guide notes, and as you can see from the trailer below we should be in for a similar story for the 2nd film.

We’ll add in more details about the film as they become available, including any special features that get added, but the information above should give you a good idea of what to expect.

Trailer

Things get pretty dark in the trailer with Angelina Jolie realing coming into her own in the role. The special effects look very impressive, which is going to add to the anticipation for the home entertainment release. Feathers are definitely going to fly.
