Shaun the Sheep Movie 2 Farmageddon DVD release date UK and when is it out on iTunes, Blu-ray, digital and rental

Shaun the Sheep Movie 2 Farmageddon DVD release date UK

Aardman Animation will be heading back to the countryside with the Shaun the Sheep Movie 2 Farmageddon DVD, Blu-ray and digital release date (UK details below) fast approaching. It’s billed as an animated sci-fi comedy with the tag line “Close Encounters Of The Furred Kind”, so it should see Shaun and co travelling even furrther afield than in the first film. It looks like it could definitely be one for all of ewe claymation fans on iTunes and Amazon Prime Video to buy or rent, so form an orderly flock and come by!

It’s been nearly five years since the release of the first Shaun the Sheep Movie, and the only other film to come out from Aardman Animations between then and now is Early Man, which didn’t do so well at the box office. Hopefully, the little ball of fluff will be able to pull things around for the much-loved animation company that has previously brought us such gems as Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run and Arthur Christmas.

The story sees Shaun and the rest of the farmyard inhabitants welcoming alien first contact as the extra-terrestrial Lu-La crash lands in a field down the road. However, with a name like Farmageddon, you’ve got to imagine that things are going to get a little precarious on Mossy Bottom Farm before the credits roll. There are strange alien powers and a very creepy government agency, so something is definitely going to kick right off.

While it’s another low dialogue film, just like the first, there’s still a voice cast with Mr Tumble front man Justin Fletcher picking up where he left off on the 2015 opener as Shaun the Sheep. He’s joined by fellow kids TV legends John Sparkes (Peppa Pig’s narrator) as Bitzer the sheepdog and Kate Harbour (Wendy, Dizzy and Mrs. Potts in Bob the Builder) as both Shaun’s aunt and Agent Red.

Shaun The Sheep Movie 2 Farmageddon DVD and Blu-ray special features

The Shaun the Sheep Movie 2 Farmageddon DVD and Blu-ray release date has been confirmed for Monday the 10th February 2020 in the UK, following on from its run on the big screen in Autumn 2019. It isn’t on 3D Blu-ray, but you can crank up the resolution to max strength with the 4K Ultra HD release, which is out on the same date.

The iTunes and Amazon Video digital release is usually two weeks earlier to buy the film, so it should come out towards the end of January 2020. The digital rental will coincide with the date that the DVD and Blu-ray comes out, so you’re looking at the 10th February once again, but we’ll update with more details once they’re confirmed by Amazon and iTunes.

Shaun the Sheep Movie 2 Farmageddon runtime and digital file size

The film has a runtime of 1 hour 27 minutes, so it’s definitely on the shorter side of the spectrum, which works well for the younger audience. This will give it a digital file size of around 3.65Gb at 1080p in high definition, 2.97Gb at 720p HD and 1.32Gb in standard definition. If you’re planning to buy the digital version of Farmageddon then you might want to check your PC, Mac, PS4 or Xbox ONE hard drive to ensure you’ve got the storage space you need.

UK cinema release date

Shaun the Sheep Movie 2 Farmageddon had a UK release date confirmed for Friday the 18th October on the big screen. It wasn’t out in Australia & New Zealand until the 9th January 2020, and Canada-based fans had to wait until the 17th January. There was no USA cinematic release, but it will be available on on Netflix through over there on the 10th January 2020, which is a good sign that it’ll be making a similar transition in the UK at a later date.

The other big films out on the same weekend were Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil and Zombieland: Double Tap.

Age rating

The Shaun the Sheep Movie 2 Farmageddon age rating is U in the the UK from the British Board of Film Classification, so it’s one for everyone. There’s just very mild threat, language and rude humour to be aware of, so if you don’t like burp jokes then you might want to give it a miss.

We’ll add in more details about the film as they become available, including any special features that get added, but the information above should give you a good idea of what to expect.

You can also see the Shaun the Sheep website for more on Farmageddon at https://www.shaunthesheep.com/movie for more on the film ahead of the home entertainment release.

Trailer

The trailer is pretty funny and a lot more enticing than that of Early Man. The addition of Lu-La is a work of genius that adds a lot of fun into the mix, so we’re expecting this to be a popular DVD, Blu-ray and digital release in early 2020.
