Mulan live action character posters feature Jason Scott Lee and Jet Li

Mulan live action character posters

With the upcoming release date for the live action adaptation of Mulan set for March 2020, we’re starting to see more and more of the film and the latest is a set of character posters from Walt Disney Studios. They feature martial arts legends Jason Scott Lee and Jet Li in their roles as Hun warrior Bori Khan and the benevolent Emperor of China, and you can check out all of the new artwork below.

The designs and the hair and make-up for the cast combine to make the posters look so impressive with both stars looking very different from what we’re used to seeing from them. They’re also joined by newcomers Yifei Liu as Mulan and Yoson An as her fellow army recruit and love interest Chen Honghui, but the coolest of the set is Gong Li as powerful witch and ally to Bori Khan, Xian Lang, with her freaky horned thumb sand throwing star.

This may well be a simple hero shot, but Lifei Liu looks every bit the live action incarnation of Mulan. The outfit is perfect and the sword reflection works well to cut through all of the posters with a similar theme.

Donnie Yen

The Ip Man and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star will be playing Mulan’s mentor Commander Tung in the 2020 release. He’s a former world wushu champ, so we’re expecting to see some impressive moves in the film when it comes out.

Gong Li

Li plays witch Xian Lang, one of two antagonist characters in the Mulan live action film. There is no equivalent part in the original film, so it could easily go on to be the most important. She definitely looks the part with the headless and the light playing across her face, not to mention the thumb again.

Jason Scott Lee

The Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story star is getting in on the baddy action in Mulan too, playing Hun leader Bori Khan. He starred alongside Donnie Yen in a slightly similar role in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny, so it’s going to be interesting to see how he mixes things a little here as the brooding invader.

Jet Li

Li looks almost as much changed as Jason Scott Lee in the role of the Emperor of China. His long goatee is enough to add years onto him for the role, but as a former wushu champ too we’re also expecting him to be more than capable of weirding that blade in the poster.

Yoson An

The character artwork is rounded out by newcomer Yoson An. He plays a brave soldier who fights alongside Mulan. He hasn’t had too many other big name films in the past, but the pictures adds a lot to his potential in the film. He was also in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny, but as a minor fighter, so this will definitely be his biggest role to-date.
