Star Wars Jedi Survivor bosses

With the release of the sequel to Fallen Order, we’ve started to put together out guide to the Star Wars Jedi Survivor bosses. With the massive impact of the first game, it was always going to be interesting to see how EA and Respawn manage to take things to the next level, so we’ll also cover bosses in order of appearance to kick things off.

Contents:

Introduction

Star Wars Jedi 2 is set years after Cal managed to get one up on Darth Vader and his order 66 goons, and as the title implies, he’s been a survivor ever since. He’s also managed to keep up the fight and we find him at the heart of a new Star Wars story as the Empire’s number one target.

It also introduces a host of new gameplay mechanics to help you take down the game’s bosses with a variety of different stances, each with their own lightsaber setup. The big new addition is the Kylo Ren-style lightsaber, which will give you the most power, but sacrificing speed of movements along the way.

The good news is that there have already been a number of trailers and gameplay videos to get a good idea about how all of this works. This has also given us a glimpse at a number of the bosses in the game and we’ll take you through that in the sections below.

We will then discuss some of the Star Wars Jedi survivor bosses that we’d like to see added in the game. Fallen Order dished up some pretty meaty monsters and it looks like the second part of the story we’ll add to this with its own roster of boss fights.

You can follow us on Twitter to see more on the latest video games releases, and you can see more on Star Wars Jedi Survivor with the official EA Star Wars Twitter page at https://twitter.com/EAStarWars.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor bosses by order of appearance

You can see the list below for the Star Wars Jedi Survivor bosses by order of appearance. We’ll be updating this as we make our way through the game and adding in tips to help you defeat them, along with videos and deeper guides where needed:

K-405

This droid attacks you on Coruscant as you’re trying to get back to the Senator’s ship. Parry its triple attacks to get an opening to do some damage. The big impact comes when you break down its guard (the bar just above its head), so keep up the offensive to drain this and you’ll be able to destroy K-405’s health bar to defeat it.

The Ninth Sister

This is one of the game’s inquisitor bosses and she’ a former Jedi, so she’s got a double-bladed lightsaber and Force powers. The fight is broken up into three phases with the first being a simple case of parry or dodge and attack to get in your hits.

In the second phase, she uses her Force powers to predict your movement, so you have to be much smarter about your attacks. When she does the jump move, circle around it or dodge to the side to get a good opportunity to do damage.

You can do a similar thing with the lunge attack, but on higher difficulty she learns from this, so it won’t work every time. However, you can also parry it or block it to get a short window for attack too.

The same things work in the third phase of the Ninth Sister boss fight with the split lightsabers unlocked and then you hold triangle to auto parry in duel stance to defeat her. You can see all of this in the video below.

Zeik

When you get to the center of Koboh you’ll meet Rayvis for the first time, who sets Zeik on you for a boss fight in the center of town. You can bully him with the double lightsaber combining in the Vortex Drive skill to bring down his stamina bar giving you plenty of hits.

The Vortex Drive can also be used to interrupt its unblockable attacks, but the timing might be tricky. When Zeik’s health gets lower his stamina recovery is slower so you can mince him pretty quickly.

Dagan Gera

Star Wars Jedi Survivor bosses Dagan Gera

It takes a long time after Zeik to get to Dagan Gera on Kobah, but as he’s a big contender to be one of the final bosses, he’s a pretty important character. He’s been preserved in a giant bacta tank since the High Republic days and when Cal sets him free he attacks, continuing his feud with the Order.

Blocks and parries will help to get you openings against Dagan Gera, but make sure you dodge to the side of red attacks to get even more opportunities. You can chip away at his stamina bar with Vortex Drive, but it doesn’t do anywhere near as much damage as it did against Zeik.

This is the first boss fight where you might need to cycle through your health stims to stay in it. Dodge roll to get some space before you do it through to prevent him from getting a big hit on your while you’re in the process.

Skriten

Next up you take on this big scorpion crab sand worm hybrid with Merrin. It’s claw acts like a shield, so the way to beat it is to tag team it, so either dodge and return with a Vortex Dive or wait for it to be busy with Merrin to get an opportunity to get close.

Keep your guard up most of the time and we found that focusing on dodged was the best bet to make it through the fight. Backwards roll when it red attacks and then just keep chipping away at it until you beat it.

AT-ST

When you first start running at the AT-ST you might be confident having smashed one in the lasy game, but this one is a lot more difficult. It’s got un-blockable fire, better homing missiles and electro bombs that you can’t fire at it in the same way.

However, the process is still the same, with a few new additions. Time your block to return its blaster fire and get ready to dodge when it turns red. If you get a good Force push return on the electro bombs then they will take a chunk off stamina making it easier to beat later on.

Run and roll backwards fast to avoid the missiles and use the environment for some cover when you need it. This comes in handy when you need a health stim or two.

Korej Lim

This bounty hunter boss ambushed Cal as he’s trying to research Tanalorr on Koboh early on in Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Use force push on his bomb drops to send them back at him and you can also use it when he’s down on the ground to stun him momentarily giving you an opportunity to get in to do some damage.

Deflect the first few blaster shots back at him to do a little damage each time, but get ready to dodge the last one, which is red. Another approach is to switch stance to the blaster to get in damage from range.

Tague Louesh

You’ll find Tague Louesh in the building at the end of the hunt for research on Tanalorr on Koboh. His surprise grapple attack is the toughest, so you’ll need fast reflexes to avoid it, so keep an eye out for when he goes red.

It’s all about bringing down his stamina to get in a chance to do damage. Wait for him to finish one of his moves and then get in to pummel him. Add in some Vortex Drive to crank up the stamina depletion and you should be able to defeat him pretty easily.

Reprogrammed Magnaguard

The Reprogrammed Magnaguard isn’t all that destructive or important in terms of the story, so you should be able to steamroll right on through it when you get to it on the Shattered Moon. It’s one of the named bosses with a large health bar, but considering everything else you’ve been able to beat up until now you shouldn’t have too many problems.

Blaster stance fire will drain its stamina and then you can lunge in to get in some hits. Dodge and repeat and you should be complete.

Drya Thorne

Continuing on the minor bosses on the Shattered Moon we have Drya Thorne with his lightsaber and cloaking device. He’s the Star Wars equivalent of a Klingon Bird of Prey, but using the double blade you can return his blaster fire and then dive attack him to stop the cloak.

Most of his normal attacks can be blocked or parried and you can force push his grenade back at him for a big impact blast. Throw in some slow and health stims if you need it and this is another one to get through without breaking too much of a sweat.

Dagan Gera II

You fight Dagan Gera for a second time when you make it to rescue Zee on the downed Lucrehulk on Koboh. He’s tougher this time around, but when you add in Force push to your mix of attacks you should be able to break his stamina and get in some free hits.

The blaster stance works well with the shots adding to the chip on stamina. Stay clear of him when he’s got his spinning Lightsaber going on and you should be able to finish this guy off in round 2.

Rayvis

You catch up with Gen’dai Rayvis on the Shattered Moon when you return there following the 2nd Dagan Gera boss fight. It’s broken down into two stages with first being the easier of the two.

You can dodge a lot of Rayvis’ attacks and then get in attacks without stringing into combos, which will allow you to chip away at his health in the first section. Dodge his direct rockets and deflect his blaster shots and you can return fire with Blaster stance, which works well again.

His rocket strikes from above are the worst attack, so try to get out of their way and have a health stim ready if you get hit. Going forward and to the side is your best bet to avoid them.

For the second phase of the fight the same tactics apply to an extent. But, you’ll need to give Rayvis a lot more distance as he swings his mace staff way more this time around.

You can block and parry these if you’ve got the timing down to give you more opportunities to break his stamina. And remember to slow down time when you get the charge to get in some free damage in the second phase.

Urgost, Fist of Rayvis

When you return to Koboh to confront Dagan Gera, you’ll have to climb a series of sky island facilities and in one you’ll find Urgost, a brute of a boss with a hammer. You need to dodge it’s red attacks with some distance to avoid the electro shock treatment, but it’s easy to damage.

You just need to stay in the game long enough, so it’s all about avoiding the big shots.Blaster shots work well against him. If you’ve got a full slow down you can use it to land some good hits and later on you’ll need to chip away his stamina to do damage, but by this stage you’ll be well on your way to defeating him.

Dagan Gera III

Here’s where things get tough! Gera has clearly been saving his best efforts for this boss fight and in the last of the three stages he doesn’t hold anything back. You’ll have Bode again in the first phase, so it’s easy to breeze through with some good blocks, parries and return lightsaber hits, but it’s much harder later on.

You can read our Dagan Gera 3 boss fight guide for our full tips on how to defeat him once and for all.

Darth Vader

The Darth Vader boss fight is next and it’s probably the toughest in the game if you don’t know how to smash this his third phase stamina wall. As with the Dagan Gera boss fight above, we’ve created a dedicated page for this one, because there’s a lot to take into account.

Our Star Wars Jedi Survivor Darth Vader guide will give you a number of options to get through it. The tips will also help you with the rest of the bosses in the game as things build to the end of the main story following the (easily spotted) twist that takes place just before the Darth Vader fight.

You can also see the full fight in the video above to see how it all shakes down in the three phases.

Bode Akuna

We saw the double cross a mile off, but it was still tough to take and the final boss fight with Bode Akuna is up there with the Darth Vader fight in terms of challenge. You can see all of the action in the video below to get a glimpse of how to take him down.

You can also read our Star Wars Jedi Knight final boss fight guide to find out more about how things go.

Optional bosses and mini bosses

Next up we’ve got the optional Star Wars Jedi Survivor bosses and minis that you can take on in the game.

Some of them were teased in the reveal trailer, but with the release date long gone we’vee been able to put together more details on what you can take on either during the end game or as you explore the plants.

Mogu

This beast looks like the summer version of a Wampa that attacked Luke Skywalker on the Ice Planet of Hoth in Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back. You can see it in the reveal trailer for Jedi Survivor at the one minute mark as it jumps down to a metal bridge, blocking the way for Cal.

As with the Bilemaw below it’s more like a powerful recurring enemy type or mini boss. It can beat you easily though, so block and dodge it’s before returning with lightsaber swipes. The Vortex Drive double-blade skill works well against it too.

Bilemaw

This is just a very powerful enemy type, so it’s recurring a recurring beast on Kobah. Unlike the Crag Jaw in God of War Ragnarok, it’s not one of the game’s named bosses, but it is tough. Hit and move is a good strategy against it and slow down time if you have it available to get in a lot of damage.

Mads Gresh and San Dersen

These two bosses are optional, and you can find then on the upper levels one the way to confront Dagan Gera for the 3rd boss fight on Koboh, not too long after you defeat Urgost. Focus on one at a time and let Bode fight the other and you should be able to breeze through them.

Slow will help to finish of the first and that will then leave you with the two of you versus just the one of them. If it attacks you Bode will pummel whoever is left and you can do the same if it’s attacking Bode to make light work of it.

Rancor

This monster is the first that was seen in the final gameplay trailer for Star Wars Jedi Survivor. It looks impressive and it’s a brilliant throwback to the classic fight that Luke Skywalker had with Jabba’s Rancor in The Return of the Jedi.

It’s the second time in recent years that we’ve seen one of these in action as it also featured as the inherited pet of Boba Fett. It was a big part of the climax for The Book of Boba Fett and cemented the monster’s iconic status in the Star Wars universe.

You can see where to find the big beast with the video below.

Gorocco Matriach

If you smash the path to the right of the dam on Koboh with the roller mine then you’ll unlock the route up to this big beast. It’s a tough one with some big hits, so get your evades timed right for it’s red attacks.

You’ll then be able to get in your own hits. Parry it’s normal attacks and when it’s health is about halfway you can unleash Slow to finish it off.

Caij’s Bounty Hunter bosses

When you talk to Caij during the Research Tanalorr on Koboh mission, she tells you that there are a load of bounty hunters out for your blood. You can then find her back at the cantina where she’ll give you details to follow for each of them.

These result in a series of optional boss fights, which you can either take on before the final boss fight or during your end game runs. If you’re doing it after you beat Bode then you probably won’t have too much difficulty with them, but if you try taking them on straight away then you might struggle a little more.

It starts out with Kip Ostar, who fights with a blaster and shield, so you can deflect his shots and smash him when he’s out of stamina, dodging his shield any time he goes red. Selfin Hook is next and he’s back up at the Observatory on Koboh and he’s got a few lookablike jet pack dudes with him, so take those out first.

You can send his normal blaster fire back at him, but you’re better off dodging his big ranged attacks. Force slam him to bring him down to the ground and then get ready to mulch him with your lightsaber.

Vaslyn Martz is in the fog on Koboh and again has a little support to beat first. Slow is a good way to take at least one out quickly to thin the numbers and a jump attack is a good way to close the distance on the second. When it’s just you and Martz evade his red shield run attack and hit him with everything. Charge shots in Blaster stance work well from afar and Force crush will give you a good opportunity to finish him off.

Caij will give you Kili Oso next and you’ll need to trek through the sactuary on Jedha to get to it. Defeat its shield grunts and jet pack minions and then chase him down. You can send his fire back at him or any leftover enemies. He’s another shield boss so Slow goes a long way with a Force lift and slam to add to the effect.

After this you’ll be sent to Nova Garon to find the next of the bounty hunter bosses. Take the elevator to the left to pick up their trail and then get ready for numbers, because there’s Kle-O, Fenn Finau and Masi Finau to fight.

Movement is the key here and trying to take them down one at a time. Fenn Finau is a good one to start with, because you’ll need to keep moving to get to him, which will help you avoid the attacks of the others. Jump attack is good for an opening.

You can then use a little charged blaster fire to chip away at the two remaining, return Masi Finau’s fire to break his stamina and move in for the finish. Don’t let Kle-O get close to you while you have the others and then you can get some distance and defeat him when it’s on its own. Slow will give you the advantage.

Final boss fight contenders

Continuing on with the Star Wars Jedi Survivor bosses that have featured in the video footage we had a couple of contenders for the final boss fight. However, this will inevitably give away details about the latter stages of the story, so if you don’t want to find out about these then now’s the time to stop reading.

The characters revealed in the trailers don’t end up being the main antagonists, and there’s more to the story than what we’d seen before the release. In fact, they end up being mid-game bosses, but they’re still pretty critical to the plot.

There was always a little complexity to the characters from the look of them, which added weight to there being another big reveal finale. In the first game it was Darth Vader, so it’s going to be interesting to see how Respawn and EA one-up it.

Rayvis

As a Gen’dai, this armored warrior is pretty much uneatable with no organs and regenerating body party. Although, you do go on to beat it in Star Wars Jedi Survivor and you can get some tips on how to defeat him in the section above.

He’s big and wears studded armor, so he’s a bit of a bruiser. You can see him at the 45-second mark in the reveal trailer and at this point he doesn’t have any interest in Cal other than to leave him to face a spear-wielding enemy, which turns out to be one of the early bosses Zeik.

We got to see more of the boss in the final gameplay trailer, which confirmed the fact that Cal gets to fight him. You can see him with his arm armor damaged and a tentacle arm by his side, which will probably be a big part of the second half of the fight.

Dagan Gera

You can see the armored villain later in the teaser trailer talking to his master, Dagan Gera, and this guy was another contender for the Star Wars Jedi Survivor final boss fight. He reports that the Jedi is a threat to which the grey-skinned villain says, “not now that we have this,” referring to some sort of data storage device.

He doesn’t look that formidable sitting down holding the drive, but looks can be deceiving. The Second Sister didn’t look all that big or scary in Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, but she turned out to be pretty dangerous in the end.

He’s wearing robes and a crest that dates back to the High Republic days and can be seen in a Force battle with Cal over the data device. This doesn’t necessarily mean that he might be good, but it definitely makes things more nuanced and that’s sort of the way things went.

We’ve found out a lot about why things are the way they are in Star Wars thanks to the previous game, including why the force sensitive individuals didn’t necessarily rise up during the Empire’s reign.

This new final villain revealed a little more with a parallel tragic story to Cal’s, which made the end fight such a sad one in the end. It was a lot of fun finding out how it all plays out and you can see the link above for more detail on Bode and how to defeat him.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor boss fight wish list

When it comes to our Star Wars Jedi Survivor boss fight wish list there are three main considerations – big names, big monsters and interesting human bosses. In terms of the big names, we already got mashed by Darth Vadar at the end of Fallen Order, so a do over for that would be great.

This would obviously have to be a proper scrap though and while we don’t expect to be able to beat him it would be great to do enough to stop him again. Another contender is the Emperor himself, which would be huge, as the game is set ten years after Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith, so he’s the ultimate evil in the galaxy.

This would also put it on a similar timeline to the Obi Wan Kenobi TV series, so we could well see a tie-in of some kind. This would give us the Grand Inquisitor as another possible boss fight along with more numbered Brothers and Sisters to come after Cal.

There are plenty of monsters that they could include like the huge alligator we just saw in the opening episode of The Mandalorian Series 3. We’ve already seem a raucous Rancor, but there’s also a possible kick-off with a Krayt Dragon or a match-up against a Mudhorn.

Other monsters we’d love to fight include a Rathtar from Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens, a Dianoga from Episode VI The Return of the Jedi and an Ackley from Episode II Attack of the Clones. However, EA and Respawn might have infinite creative license and be able dish up a few new monsters for us to fight.

Finally, we have the interesting human bosses and hopefully they can steal a play from God of War Ragnarok here, with its sheer quality and variety. We’ve already mentioned the Brothers and Sisters of Order 66, but there are plenty of other options like unique bounty hunters, space pirates, rogue Sith or force sensitive baddies.

General tips to help with bosses

Finally, we’ve watched a lot of lot of video footage for the game and we wanted to give you a few tips on how to beat the Star Wars Jedi Survivor bosses. Here are the most important things to take into account as you’re making your way through the game when the release date comes around:

  • If you’re struggling with a particular boss fight, try using one of the different stances, which could help you turn the tide.
  • Block and counter focus against human bosses where possible.
  • Try all of the your moves first to see what works against each of them.
  • Don’t forget to use your ranged attacks and cycle through your force efforts to give you openings.
  • Mix up your combos when you get an opening to attack, especially when you use slow time moves.
  • Use your environment to do damage with rocks and rolling grenades etc.
  • Check your skills, perks and upgrades to add in a little extra advantage.
  • Star by trying to work out how to avoid boss attacks. This means you’ll start off defensive before you can go on the attack.
