Star Wars Jedi Survivor how to beat Dagan Gera 3rd fight

Star Wars Jedi Survivor how to beat Dagan Gera 3

It doesn’t take too long to run into Dagan Gera in Star Wars Jedi Survivor and it turns out you’ll have to beat him 3 times before the game is done. He attacks you on Koboh when you first free him, which is pretty ungrateful, and from there he only gets tougher to defeat.

The tips below will take you through the third boss fight and show you how to beat him when he cranks things up to God of War mode. He might feel tough the first time around, but you haven’t seen anything yet, because he just keeps coming back stronger.

It was a similar story in Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order with Trilla getting three slices of the Cal pie before she’s decommissioned by Darth Vader in the final boss fight. In Survivor, the story is all about a hidden planet, protected by an impassible nebula with both the Kestis and Gera camps trying to get their hand on the technology to navigate a route to it.

Dagan Gera 3 boss fight tips

The 3rd and final boss fight with Dagan Gera takes place on Koboh at the top of the sky islands hovering above the planet. It’s broken up into three phases with each one getting progressively more difficult, as you might expect.

You’ll have Bode with you for the first two phases, so things are a easier from a numbers point of view. You can also do ranged damage to him without having to reduce his stamina, so blaster fire will chip away at him.

Block parry and evade his attacks with just 3 combos to take on, counter attack and you’ll be able to get through this section relatively unscathed. In fact, you can probably just run the entire first phase and let Bode do all of the work from the air.

In phase 2 you don’t need to bring down his stamina to do damage to begin with, so you can get in your moves similar to the first phase. The challenge is the lightsaber shield he puts out, so a quick jog and dodge should keep you out of harm’s way.

Double dodge backwards when he dips his head to do the energy blast and you should be golden. Dodge his water orbs, energy swipes and keep an eye out for the red lunge to get out of the way of his worst attacks in phase 2.

You can probably get away with using slow on the second phase to get the job done and build up to another in the third phase. This gives you a Force hallucination created by Dagan, so things get a bit weird with two fake versions to take out as quickly as possible with parry and counter being a good tactic.

His energy blast does a full floor sweep in phase 3, so jump this to avoid getting toppled and dodge the power swipes that he fires out. If you do this in a zigzag motion you can get a little closer to Dagan, so you’ll be ready with your own combos by the time he finished.

You can use your button hold lunge moves (hold square on the PS5 controller and X on the Xbox controller) to close the gap and get in another hit on his stamina. Add in some Force pushes between attacks to bring down the stamina more and you should be able to get in some free hits when he staggers.

Blaster fire doesn’t always work in stage 3, but it’s worth trying every now and again to see where you stand. It seemed to return towards the end, so it’s worth playing around with if you just need a little more stamina chip to get in your last hits.

You’ll still have a lot of the moves from phase 2 to take on, so the tips above will work in the 3rd section too. You can also do a lot with the slow motion, which you should have back by the time Dagan Gera is on his last legs.

You’ll be pleased to know that the 3rd fight with him is indeed the last, so you won’t need to take him on again in Star Wars Jedi Survivor, unless you get into New Game+. However, he isn’t the final boss fight and there’s a whole lot more to come, so enjoy the fight and be ready for the next challenge in the game, because it’s a highlight.

However, you should probably buckle up for some serious monologueing from Dagan Gera in the post fight cut scene. He goes full-on Bond villain before Cal uses his Force hallucination against him to defeat him once and for all.

Who is Dagan Gera?

If you’re still a little unsure about who Dagan Gera is, he’s essentially an Jedi Knight from the Old Republic days, who got preserved in a Bacta Tank for 400 years. During his time, he was a part of a team looking to establish a Jedi order base on the hidden planet of Tanalorr, but when it was discovered and attacked, the Jedi try to abandon it.

Dagan Gera refuses to follow their instructions and goes against the order, but he’s discovered by the team lead and close friend, Santari Khree. She tries to reason with him, but he doesn’t listen and tries to steel the technology that creates the passage through the nebula to Tanalorr.

Things end in a fight and Dagan Gera loses an arm, but Khree saves him and seals him inside the Bacta Tank. In the chaos that follows, he’s left there and locked away for years until Cal frees him on Koboh with the help of the High Republic droid Zee.
