Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer 2 lands with new poster

Star Wars The Last Jedi trailer 2The Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer 2 has just landed and it’s looking pretty dark with everything from Kylo Ren’s finger poised on the button to warning words of raw power from Luke Skywalker. However, it’s the closing two shots that leaves it all poised on a knife edge as it hints at the potential of a union between Rey and Ren.

It isn’t 100% clear whether or not they’re from the same scene, so there could well be an element of misdirection to it all. However, with all of the talk about embracing both sides of the force, and Luke’s references to only seeing raw power like this once before and not being scared enough of it at the time, it certainly looks like a dark portent.

That said, it could all go the other way. Ren has already shown that he has a lot of conflicting emotions and Rey is surely far too good to join the Dark Side, so there may just be another way. Ren has already cut down his own father, though, in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so you really can’t bank on anything with this new trilogy of films.

In addition to the dark quandary, the trailer also features a lot of cool scenes, which will help to build even more anticipation for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The line of AT-ATs at the beginning of trailer 2 is pretty imposing and the space battle scene part way through the trailer looks as cool as any we’ve seen from the series.

Carry Fisher looks like she might have put in one of her best performances as Leia with a lot of drama and emotion in the short sequence that you can see her in the trailer. With her sad death earlier this year, the expectation is for her to be written out at some stage during The Last Jedi and the trigger finger of Kylo Ren certainly hints at that. However, we’ll have to wait for the December 15th release date to find out for sure.

The face-off battle sequence between Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and Finn (John Boyega) looks like it’s going to be pretty epic. The two come to blows with fire and destruction raining down around them, so it’s going to look pretty jaw dropping on the big screen.

One of the most exciting elements from trailer 2 is the dedication to great cinematography that’s starting to take shape. Some of the shots are literally incredible, so it’s poised to be one of the best looking film the franchise has ever seen.

Luke Skywalker takes a very prominent position at the top of the artwork with both Kylo Ren and Rey just beneath him, which adds to the speculation about their connection.
