The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Lurelin Village last monster

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Lurelin Village last monster

Making it through the forces of pirates is tough enough in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, but it gets even more frustrating when you have the challenge of the Lurelin Village last monster to find. There’s a lot going on, so it’s possible that one of a number of things have happened, so we’ll cover all of the bases.

The mechanics of Lurelin Village are very specific too, so frustration can also lead to the whole thing resetting, so it can get even more confusing. To save you from this, we’ll also explain how things work for the side quest to make sure that you don’t have to face any do-overs.

The general gist is that Lurelin Village has been overrun by some pretty powerful pirates in the form of Monster Forces. You need to fight them off and it’s only when you defeat the very last monster that the village can return and start to think about fixing things after the chaos.

Lurelin Village isn’t bugged

If you’ve made it through all of the main Monster Forces in Lurelin Island, you might be think that the whole thing might be bugged. The reality is that it isn’t and you just need to understand the mechanics a little better to ensure you don’t end up going around in circles in TotK.

Essentially, you need to track down the very last monster to be able to complete it, but if you stray too far away from it then you can lose your progress. For example, if you make it through everything, but you fast travel away thinking that it will retain your progress, it doesn’t.

Instead, you’ll have to start again with all of the Monster Forces back to the way they were in the first place. The challenge is that you need to defeat them in one process and it’s a similar story if you stray too far from Lurelin Island trying to search for the missing monsters.

This is very different to the way things work in the rest of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom where monsters only respawn during a Blood Moon. It was a similar case in Breath of the Wild, but Lurelin Village is just a unique challenge; it’s not bugged.

The reality is that the last monster will be within the confines of the village, so don’t go too far away. You can’t fast travel away to get something or do something part way through. Instead, you need to stay within the confines of the area and use the tips below to make sure that you defeat all of the pirates.

The last monster in Lurelin Island

There are a few places where you can lose a monster or two around Lurelin Island, so it’s a little hard to say for sure which one of them will be the last one for you. However, the most obvious of these is the lone enemy hidden away underneath the place, which is probably the culprit for 99% of players.

Once you’ve cleared out everything that you can see above ground, you need to look for the well entrance by the little tiki houses near the shore. Climb down the well and you’ll find a lone Bokoblin hiding out down there. It isn’t particularly powerful, so you can defeat it and this should complete Lurelin Island.

If that’s not the case, the other more obvious place to look is around the ship moored in the shallows. There are a lot of monsters on the decks and it’s easy to miss one or two, so use the glider to get back over there to make sure you got them all.

You might have knocked one or two overboard with explosions, so check over the sides and around the pirate ship for any monster wandering around a bit lost. If you double check this and defeat any stragglers that you find then again you should get the job done.

We attacked the Boss Bokoblin on the main deck with bomb arrows from a distance, which sent him and a few of his monster forces flying overboard. We then had to pick them off from the edge of the ship, but it’s easy for one or two of them to be missed.

If you still don’t get the quest complete prompt with the well Bokoblin taken out and a thorough check around the pirate ship then you probably need to circle around the village using your glider. Climb a palm tree and start going from one to another in circles, starting from the centre and working your way outwards.

You should be able to find any stuck around buildings or plants this way. As with all things The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, it’s possible that your play through of Lurelin Village is bugged, but it isn’t very likely, so double check the bases mentioned above and you should complete the quest.
