The Punisher features in the latest Marvel’s The Defenders video

The Punisher in Marvel's The Defenders on NetflixIn the latest video from Netflix, Stan Lee sets up The Punisher as a contender for a cameo spot in the upcoming Marvel’s The Defenders series, as well as adding fresh fuel to the media fire for his own spin-off series. To start with the video seems like a simple showcase of the upcoming Defenders show, but out of nowhere, striding straight for the screen is Frank Castle dressed in his new Punisher costume, which looks very cool.

Played by Jon Bernthal (Baby Driver), the character took his bow in Daredevil Series 2, nearly stealing the show from Matt Murdoch and team, but he hasn’t been seen since. That was just over a year ago and it looks like he’s fully adopted his anti-hero persona with the new costume, which continues his dark theme, but with a white skull on his chest.

The character was a big hit from his debut in Daredevil, which has resulted in his return for what appears to be a cameo in Marvel’s The Defenders and the eventual developments of his own show. We’re expecting just as much brutal intensity from Berthnal, along with The Punishers unique take on morality.

The video itself, which you can watch in full below, features the legend that is Stan Lee with a monologue about what makes his heroes so special, casting a mirror on the rest of society to say that it isn’t their powers that makes them special, but their humanity. It also features shots of new Defenders team in action in the upcoming TV series, which will be arriving on Netflix on the 18th August 2017.

The Punisher’s cameo in Marvel’s The Defenders video:

The video closes out on The Punisher turning up out of nowhere with the simple line “looks like I got here just in time “, so it’s possible that he will be bringing his unique style of justice to bear on the antagonist in Marvel’s The Defenders. He’ll be facing Alexandra, the head of the powerful organisation Midland Circle Financial, if that’s the case, who’s played by a very serious looking Sigourney Weaver, so good luck to them all.

There’s just one month to go for the new series to start on Netflix and we’re expecting at least a couple more snippets of information to be revealed in the run-up to the release. If you missed the opening trailer for the show you can check it out at www.tuppencemagazine.co.uk/marvels-the-defenders-full-trailer/ to see Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage in action together.

You can find out a little more about The Punisher TV series on Netflix at www.tuppencemagazine.co.uk/the-punisher-tv-series-netflix/, but details are still thin on the ground, apart from the confirmation that the shower has being commission. There is no release date as of yet, but with nothing confirmed for 2018 by Netflix, so we’ll be very surprised if it doesn’t go on to be one of next years big Marvel TV series.
