Bill And Ted Face The Music UK release date age rating and parents guide

Summer 2020 is quickly filling up with long in the tooth sequels with the Bill And Ted 3, Bill & Ted Face The Music UK release date (more details below) coming in just a few weeks after Top Gun Maverick. The film had been rumoured for years with getting anywhere near production, but this time it’s in full swing, so we’ll finally get to see how things are going with the decrepit Wild Stallions in the modern age.

It picks up with Bill and Ted as they trudge through the ups and downs of a slightly dull middle age. The prophecy of their rise to fame, fortune and heroic stature has apparently come to nothing, much to their disappointment, but with a nod in the right direction they must turn their life back around to save the universe once again.

It continues their efforts together as the founding member of the Wyld Stallyns, who first arrived on the big screen in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) where they got a little help from time traveller Rufus to pass their history exam. They then got the band back together in 1991 for Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey to challenge death itself/himself and win the Battle of the Bands contest. With the announcement of Bill & Ted 3, clearly something has gone wrong since then.

Cast

Full details for the Bill & Ted Face The Music cast haven’t been confirmed as of yet, but the two leads role are obviously locked on for the film to get the go ahead. Keanu Reeves will be back as Theodore “Ted” Logan and Alex Winter returns as William “Bill” S. Preston, Esq., the two halves of the Wyld Stallyns duo.

William Sandler will also be back as one Death-myster general, the Grim Reaper, continuing on from his iconic role in Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. However, following comedian George Carlin’s death in 2008 he obviously didn’t do any new filming as Rufus, but archive footage from the original two movies will be used in a similar way as Carrie Fisher’s previous General Organa footage has been for Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker.

Brigette Lundy-Paine plays Billie Logan, Ted and Elizabeth’s daughter and Samara Weaving has been cast as Thea Preston, Bill and Joanna’s daughter and they’re both joined by rapper Kid Cudi, who plays himself.

We’ll update you with more details about the cast as they’re confirmed.

Bill & Ted 3 UK release date

The Bill & Ted Face The Music UK release date has been scheduled for Friday the 21st August 2020, so it will have the price late of closing out the summer blockbuster season. The first two films have gone on to pick up cult status with a strong fan base, which should help to give B&T 3 a strong platform to build on for the release. In fact, it was dan support that helped to get the project up and running in the first place.

It’s not the only big name 3rd film sequel from the 80s out over the summer with Ghostbusters Afterlife due out on the 10th July 2020 and then there’s also Top Gun 2 out a little earlier in the summer.

As things stand, it will also be up against Aretha Franklin biopic Respect, which has the same release date for the UK, so it could be a close call for the number one spot. Both will be out a week later than Disney’s adaptation of The One And Only Ivan, which could well be the main contender for box office chest pounding.

Age rating and parents guide

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) will confirm their UK age rating for Bill & Ted 3 a couple of weeks ahead of the release date, but our parents guide should give you a good idea of what to expect from the film. Firstly, the opening two films both picked up ratings of PG in the UK and B&T Face The Music should be similar. It’s possible that it might kick things up a notch to land as a 12, but this has got family film written all over it. Expect, mild language, violence and a few sexy number innuendos.
