Rhys Darby, Mr Adventure 2014 UK tour dates

Rhys Darby, Mr Adventure posterRhys Darby will be touching down in the U of K for another set of tour dates in 2014 and this time around he’s going all Bear Grylls on our collective asses as he channels the outdoors-man spirit of the wanderer general in his new show, Mr Adventure. It’s been a couple of years since he’s been on tour in the UK and a whole, freakishly long five years since the end of Flight of the Conchords, so it’ll be a cool opportunity to catch up with the New Zealander’s international adventuring exploits ever since.

The first of the UK tour dates is set for Sunday 6th July 2014 at the St Albans Arena, St Albans, following on from its premier in New Zealand between April and May. The UK tour will take in Cardiff, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Cambridge, Leeds and Newcastle as Darby brings his crazed and wild eyed tales from the edges of humanity to a comedy venue near you.

According to the Rhys Darby website, adventure is his favourite topic and if he’s got an entire show dedicated to it, he’s bound to have a whole lot of adventure stories to talk about. Having done a lot of travelling, which has taken him from the mist-covered mountain ranges of Rwanda to the creepy waters of Loch Ness, he’s clearly got a lot of serious tales to tell, but we’ll also be treated to how-to guides to not getting lost in America’s biggest shopping mall, so we’re expecting this to be as self deprecating as it will be mockingly boastful.

Cryptids seem to be a bit of an obsession for Darby and feature in the show as he talks us through his wanders around the famous Scottish loch in search of Nessy and his discovery of a cryptid in Texas owned by a gun wielding big game hunting mad man.

The Mr Adventure UK tour follows on from his 2012 hit show, This Way to Spaceship, which was class, so we’ve got high hopes for another great stand-up extravaganza from the lord of the band meeting.
