Billy Batson and family returned to the big screen in March, so here are all of the details we know so far about the Shazam 2 Fury of the Gods UK DVD, Blu-ray and digital release date. For anyone based in the States, we’ll also talk you through when it’s coming out on the various formats in North America.
This time he’ll be facing the might of the gods as the daughters of Atlas descend to earth with wrath and retribution in mind. In general they’re annoyed at Shazam and his superhero family for usurping the power of the gods.
AdvertisementAs a result, an epic battle takes place and it looked pretty impressive on the big screen, which should translate well on home entertainment later in the year. The Blu-ray and 4K options will be the most impressive for the physical release and then you might want to go for UHD if you’re looking for the best looking digital.
It’s directed once again by David Sandberg, picking up with the same core cast and throwing Helen Mirren, Lucy Lui and Rachel Zegler in to the mix as the daughters of Atlas. In the original Greek mythology, the daughter of Atlas were nymphs for the most part and Anthea (Zegler) was a daughter of Zeus, so there’s a certain amount of creative license in the story.
If you’re a fan of the opening film then you might want to add the Shazam 2 DVD, Blu-ray or digital release date to you calendar. Details are unconfirmed for the UK as of yet, but we’ve put together ranges based on what we know for North America to give you an idea of when it might land, along with notes on special features and extras to take into account.

UK Blu-ray, digital and DVD release date latest
AdvertisementThe film had a big screen release date of March 17th, 2023, so the Shazam 2 Fury of the Gods UK DVD, Blu-ray and digital should be coming out around July 2023. If you’re looking for your first opportunity to see the film at home, that would be early access to rent or buy the film and that could be around April to May 2023.
There are a number of things that can influence the end date, but the most important of these is box office results, which weren’t that big. It may have had the release weekend in theaters to itself, but there was still 65 in the mix, having come out a week earlier, and then we’ve got John Wick Chapter 4 a week later.

It also picked up mixed reviews, so all of this could mean that the DVD, Blu-ray and digital release is a little earlier. The other thing to take into account is timing the release for a holiday period, which will probably mean the main summer break.
The summer half term is at the end of May, so probably too early for home media in the UK after the cinema release in March. That could be a target for the early access if they go for a longer run on the big screen, but it’s looking likely that we’ll get it soon with the North America release already in the bag.
North America release date latest
AdvertisementWith early access digital already available to rent and buy in North America, you won’t have too long to wait for the Shazam 2 Fury of the Gods DVD, Blu-ray and 4K release date in the US. It turns out that our previous estimate of the May mid-term holidays was right and the physical formats will be coming out on May 23rd, 2023.
It should also revert to standard digital around the same date, but you might have a little longer to wait for the standard rental option. The May release for physical formats could also mean we’ll get them in the UK sooner than expected, so June would be a possibility.

Shazam 2 Fury of the Gods Blu-ray, 4K and Digital extras and special features
With the release date for North America confirmed, we now have details for the bonus extras and special features that will be available on the Blu-ray and 4K. Shazam 2 will include commentary by director David F. Sandberg, the mythology of Fury of the Gods, scene deconstruction, a feature on the villainous sisters and a whopping 30-minites of deleted scenes.
AdvertisementIf you compare that to the first film it came with over 90-minutes of bonus content too, which was a pretty good indicator for Shazam 2. It included an exclusive motion comic, alternative beginning and ending, deleted scenes, a gag reel and audition footage.
Fury of the Gods has changed things up a little, but the last few bonus features were always pretty much guaranteed. With the addition of Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu and Rachel Zegler to the cast the feature on the daughters of Atlas should be good.
As ever, the DVD will probably just contain the film with not extras. Digital is a bit complex with some versions including the bonus features and others not, so make sure you double check before you purchase. If you’re looking for the definitive editions of Shazam Fury of the Gods then you’re options are either the Blu-ray or 4K to make sure.
