The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Legacy of the Rito

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Legacy of the Rito

As Hebra is heavily advised by Purah to be your first Regional Phenomena in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, you’re likely to get the Legacy of the Rito as one your first side quests. You find it by talking to Tulin and his dad high up in Rito Village and it’s another legendary weapon quest.

Like finding the Cobble Crusher to get the Boulder Breaker in Goron City, the Legacy of the Rito involves finding a lesser bow as part of the item list to make the Great Eagle Bow. As a result you need the location for the Swallow Bow in order to get Teba cracking on making the triple shot weapon.

You’ll also need to throw in three diamonds and a few bunches of wood, so we’ll talk you through everything you need to know about completing Legacy of the Rito. This will cover where to easily pick up the Swallow Bow, how to get diamonds and how to keep the Great Eagle Bow indefinitely.

Where to find Legacy of the Rito items?

Once you complete the Wind Temple and start the Legacy of the Rito quest, the easiest item on the list is the wood, which you will probably already have a good supply already. It’s always good to have some wood in your inventory in TotK, but if you’re running low you can get some by chopping down a few trees and then chopping up the trunk that fall.

This will give you between one and two stacks of wood for each tree and you can find a number of them on a ledge a little higher than Tulin and Teba in Rito Village. You can also find some of it ready to go close to the crates towards the top, so this is definitely the easiest of the three items to tick off your list.

Next up are the diamonds and Teba isn’t messing around on this one. The diamond tithe is a lot more extortionate than the Cobble Crusher refit in Goron City, because this time you’ll need to kick in three of them to get things started.

The good news is that we’ve put together a where to find diamonds guide to cover all of your options. However, the speediest approach is to use the duplication glitch once you’ve found the first of your diamonds in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

In general, you can find diamonds in precious ore deposits around Death Mountain. However, you need to get the Sensor+ from Robbie to be able to track them down easier. Complete his quests to take him to the Hetano Tech Lab by fixing his balloon, get his research back from the Akkala Tech Lab and then progress with the Sensor+ quest.

With this, you can take a picture of a precious ore deposit and set it as your target in the Hyrule Compendium. Now you can go around hunting for it better. You normally get a couple of diamonds for every 10 or so precious ore deposits, but you’ll also get saphire, ruby and opal on the way, so it’s worth the effort.

You can also just buy diamonds from the shop in Goron City once you complete the Fire Temple. They’re expensive, but you can read our guide to getting rupees fast if you want to go down that route.

However, you can just find one diamond and duplicate it with the glitch. The good news is that we’ve found a way to get to Tobios Hollow early, so you can get duplicating even if you’ve only completed the Wind Temple. You can also read more about duplication in TotK with the link below:

The bad news is that you’ll need at least one triple shot bow to get duplication to work. You can get these from Lynels and there are five in a row in an arena close to the Hyrule Field Chasm down in the depths. We talk you through everything to get through this in our guide to getting Majora’s Mask, so that should get you over the line with the multi-shot bows.

Whether or not you go with duplication, Sensor+ hunting around Death Mountain or buy them from Goron City, the three diamonds should be in the bag. This just leaves the Swallow Bow and this one is a bit on the specific side and you’re probably not going to just have this in your inventory.

The quickest way to get one is to head on over to the Flight Range north west of Rito Village and land on the ledge outside the wooden building at the top. You can get to it by blasting off from the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower north of the village and fly due west until you see the air swirling out of the top of the range.

Inside the building you’ll find Kaneli who gives you a quest, but if you look next to him you’ll see the last item that you need to complete the Legacy of the Rito quest and get the Great Eagle Bow in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

Head back to Rito Village and give all of them to Teba and he’ll whip you up the bow and you can add it to your arsenal. It’s one of the most powerful multi-shot bows in TotK, so you definitely want to keep a hold of it, so you might want to read the next section as well.

How to keep the Legacy of the Rito bow forever

If you want to keep the prize for the Legacy of the Rito Quest then you’re going to want to take advantage of the repair system in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. What this means is that every time you get the warning that the Great Eagle Bow is badly damaged, take it to a Rock Octorok for repair.

You can find these little suckers around Death Mountain and all you need to do is drop it next to them and walk away. They’ll vacuum it up and fix it as good as new. They might also apply a bonus stat to it like attack up or durability, so it’s well worth the effort.

In fact, you can take it to another couple of different Rock Octoroks to get further upgrades, but you might want to save beforehand, so you can reload and try again if you don’t like what you get. They can only be used once per Blood Moon, so bear this in mind.

If you do break the Great Eagle Bow, you can simply get the items for the Legacy of the Rito quest and take them to Teba again. The Swallow Bow returns after every Blood Moon too, so it’s a weapon you can keep getting if you don’t mind wasting diamonds on it.
