Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania age rating, UK release date and more

Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania age rating certificate and UK release date

With Jonathan Majors in the role of Kang, the Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania UK release date and age rating (details below) have been highly anticipated since the film was first announced. You can also read more about the story, cast, characters in the new MCU film, along with the latest on the certificate to give you everything you need to know.

The story for the sequel to Ant-Man and the Wasp picks up with Scott, Hope and team in the aftermath of Avengers Endgame. Now that the Quantum Realm has been unlocked, Cassie thinks she’s found something down there, and clearly what they uncover is going to change everything.

It’s once again directed by Peyton Reed and unlike previous Ant-Man films it’s got some of Marvel’s most significant villains behind it. Both Kang the Conqueror and Modok are set to make their MCU debut in Quantumania, so the stakes are much higher than either of the previous films.

It’ll also be the first film in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it’s also got that to land well, putting a lot of expectation on the character’s mini shoulders. This will be an important part of the Multiverse Saga story arc, building towards Avengers The Kang Dynasty where the Conqueror will play his various hands and noses.

Cast

The Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania cast will introduce Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror following his appearance as He Who Remains, an alternate version of Kang, in Loki. Paul Rudd is back as Ant-Man / Scott Lang and he’ll be joined by Evangeline Lily as The Wasp / Hope van Dyne once again.

Michael Douglas is back in the cast as Hank Pym, the former Ant-Man and inventor of the Pym Particle, and Michelle Pfeiffer stars as Janet van Dyne, Hank’s wife and partner as the previous Wasp. Cathryn Newton takes on the role of an older Cassie Lang, and it was revealed during San Diego ComicCon ’22 that Bill Murray has also been cast, playing Kryler.

The event also confirmed the presence of the MODOK as the other villain of the film, and with the arrival of the second trailer we got a sense that Corey Stoll would be taking on the role. If you don’t know MODOK, you can see him in action in the final boss fight for Marvel’s Avengers, but in general he’s a genetically mutated and cybernetically enhanced baddy with a giant head and a robotic suit to carry him around on.

It would appear he wound up in the Quantum Realm in the aftermath of Ant-Man (2015). The cast also introduces Katy O’Brien as Quantum Realm warrior Jentorra and William Jackson Harper as her telepathic buddy.

The Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania UK release date

Marvel has done a pretty good job of laying out the details for both Phase 5 and 6 of the MCU. The Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania UK release date took place on the 17th of February 2023, so it’s set to be one of the first big films of the year.

It’ll be coming out in the UK on the same date as in North America (US and Canada), so hopefully there won’t be much in the way of story details to avoid beforehand. Its hard not to theorize about the villains with them being so much bigger than in previous Ant-Man films, but we’re hoping that there will be plenty of surprises in Quantumania when it comes out.

Obviously, the date could well move, but hopefully the pandemic has come to an end now, so we shouldn’t have as much disruption to when films come out. If the release goes ahead in February then it should arrive on digital, Blu-ray and DVD in the UK around May 2023 with Home Premier early access rental likely in April just in time for the Easter hols.

It’ll also be getting a Disney+ release following its cinema run, but when this will be depends on how successful the film is at the box office. Lightyear was available to stream on Disney+ a month after it came out on the big screen, but with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness it was a little longer, so it could be anywhere between late-March and the end of April for Ant-Man 3.

Age rating and parents guide

The official Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania age rating in the UK was confirmed as 12A by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) a couple of weeks of the release date. In North America, it has been given a a PG-13 certificate, which is the US equivalent.

There was already a lot to base a projection on from the last two Ant-Man films, as well as all of the other Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Pretty much all of them have been given a 12 certificate and we were expecting something very similar for the third entry in the series as soon as it was announced.

There will inevitably be the usual superhero violence that you see in comic book adaptations and with both Kang the Conqueror and MODOK in the mix Ant-Man and the wasp are going to have their hands full. There’s usually low level language considerations too and while there is a romantic story between Scott and Hope it doesn’t factor into either the certification or our parents guide.

We’ll update you with more details on the age rating for the film as it gets confirmed. You can also check out our movie news section to keep tabs on the latest upcoming film release dates, certificate and parents guide details, or visit the Marvel website at https://www.marvel.com/.

Runtime

As was the case with the age rating, the runtime for Ant Man and the Wasp Quantumania was revealed close to the release date, clocking it at 2 hours and 4 minutes. Ant-Man was nearly two hours long and the second film was just a minute more, so it turns out to be a good idea about how long the 3rd film would go on to be.

If you want to wrap your head around the potential of Kang in the MCU you can watch our video below, which ponders the possibility that he created the Incredible Hulk:

Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania trailers

As things stand we’ve had two trailers now for Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania with the first one above arriving in November. It’s the lighter of the two trailers, focusing on Scott and how Cassie gets them all sucked back to the Quantum Realm.

The second trailer came out in the early hours of the 10th January 2023 in the UK and showed us just how dark things are going to get for Scott. Clearly, Kang the Conqueror is going to be worthy of the big bad title and a strong new villain in the wake of Avengers Endgame now that Thanos is no more.

You can read our take on what will happen to Scott in the end to get an idea about some of the potential misdirection in trailer 2.
