Hogwarts Legacy how to get more main story quests

Hogwarts Legacy is a great game, but it isn’t without its annoyances and the biggest is how to get more main story quests when they dry up. This can happen relatively early on in the game, but it usually takes place during the middle section of the story, so it can leave you not knowing what to do to progress.

There seems to be a bit of a tangle surrounding the Lodgok section, but the solution notes below should help you no matter what part of the game you get stuck on. However, during the quest arc to help the goblin, there are a couple of things that go a bit weird, so this is quite likely the same for you.

In addition to the main quests stopping, there’s also a quest text box that tells you a huge story development before you get to play it. It’s possible that an update will be released in the end to fix these, but as things stand they’re still in play and could well trip you up as you make it through Hogwarts Legacy.

What do you need to do to get more main story quests

There are a few things that you might need to do to get more main story quests in Hogwarts Legacy, so we’ll cover each of them in chronological order in the game itself. Firstly, some quests will require you to be up to a certain level before you can start them, so check the requirements on the quests screen to see if that’s the case.

It’s a similar story for spells. Again you can see whether or not you need to learn a certain spell to be able to start a quest by reading the requirements on the quests screen. You learn spells by attending classes and completing assignments for professors in Hogwarts, so you should be able to pick these up without too many problems.

However, for the most part, this will only open up quests that you will probably already have, but they’ll be locked until you meet the requirements. The real headache comes from the owl post setup, which works differently at different times throughout the progression through the main story.

For the most part, your owl post comes up on the screen with a prompt to read them and as you do this you’ll get more main story quests sort of automatically. But every now and again that doesn’t happen for some reason and the quest linked to that owl post gets hidden, so the solution is to check all of your owl post if you find that you haven’t had any main story quests in a while.

In all fairness to Hogwarts Legacy, it does tell you relatively early on to check your owl mail for messages relting to more quests, so it’s not a bug as such. It’s just that you will have forgotten this and gotton used to the auto prompts on the screen, so the moment you miss one or one goes straight to the owl post screen it’s easy to miss it.

This seems to happen more later on in the game, which is why the final Lodgok quest seems to go missing, so if that happens to you just check the owl post from the menu system to see if you have any unread post from him. If you do just give it a read and it shouldn’t take too long to get the next main quest to appear.

That doesn’t fix the bug that tells you the final story arc for this section of Hogwarts Legacy, so you might want to skip over reading the details for the quest if you want to avoid any spoilers.

This is something that we’re definitely expecting to get fixed before the launch for PS4 and Xbox ONE consoles in April, so the problem should go away in the end.

What about more side quests?

The solutions above for main story quests will also apply for side quests, so that shouldget you back in the game for the majority of things. You can aldo find more side quests in and around Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and the wider open world map, so keep an eye out for these and aim for the map markers to talk to the quest NPCs to start them.

The side quest insignia is shaped like a shield, so you shouldn’t be able to miss them. However, some of the bigger arcs around the school are linked to specific individuals, so you’ll only get more of these when you complete the previous one and get the mail for the next part of the sequence.

If you don’t see anything for a while then check your owl post and that should get you back on track. There are three main story arcs to follow – Sebastian Sallow, Natsai Onai and Poppy Sweeting – so it will be one of them that sends you the post to check for.
