The Addams Family 2 release date UK, age rating and parents guide

Morticia, Gomez, Uncle Fester, Wednesday, Pugsley, Lurch and Thing are back in action soon in The Addams Family 2, so here’s everything you need to know about the film, including the UK release date, age rating and parents guide. You can also find out more about the story, cast and runtime, to give you the whole spooky 411 on the big family film out this Halloween.

The story picks up with the cooky family as Wednesday and Pugsley are starting to grow up. Their parents decide to pack them all off on a huge bonding road trip holiday in a bid to keep them away from too much scream time. Obviously, things are going to get pretty messed-up along the way, but it should be a fun ride to see on the big screen.

The camper van alone is well worth checking out. It looks the love child of a black whale and Count Dracula’s castle. Thing perches behind the wheel sporting a pretty snazzy leather driving glove and he’ll be pulling into a few well-known stop-offs along the way including Niagara Falls, the Florida Everglades (we think), the Grand Canyon – which Pugsley blows up to make it even grander – and what looks like Miami Beach, where they meet up with Cousin Itt.

Cast

Most of the cast from the first film return for The Addams Family 2, so Oscar Issacs (Dune) plays Gomez, Charlize Theron (Monster) plays Morticia, Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick Ass) plays Wednesday, Nick Kroll plays Uncle Fester, Bette Midler plays Grandmama Addams, Snoop Dog plays Cousin Itt and Conrad Vernon plays Lurch, as well as the mansion’s ghost. The only exception is Pugsley, who was played by Finn Wolfhard (Ghostbusters Afterlife) in the previous film, but the character will be played by Javon Walton for the sequel.

We’ll update things here with more details about the cast as they’re confirmed.

The Addams Family 2 release date UK

Following on from the interruption of COVID-19, The Addams Family 2 release date (UK) has now been confirmed as Friday the 8th October 2021, which will be a week later than in the US where it will come out on the 1st October. That means that there could be a few spoilers to avoid, so you might want to steer clear of reading too much news about the film for that week if you’re based in the UK.

It’s pretty much the only new film out on the 8th October 2021 in the UK, but that won’t be enough to hand it the box office number 1 spot. The reason for this is that James Bond 25, No Time To Die, is out in Britain a week earlier and this is pretty much going to dominate the big screen for the entirety of October, if not beyond.

With the release on the big screen in October 2021, it should go on to arrive on DVD, Blu-ray and digital in the UK in February 2022. There’s no word as of yet in terms of when it will be streaming.

UK age rating and parents guide

The official UK age rating for The Addams Family 2 has now been confirmed by the British Board of Film Classification with the release date approaching. It has picked up a PG certificate, which is the same as the first film. The classification is a little higher than the average animated family comedy and more in line with the original 1991 film, but with the nature of the family it kind of makes sense.

In terms of our parents guide, you can expect some mild comic threat, violence, rude jokes and dangerous behaviour. If you’re not too sure about the sequel, you might want to watch the previous film to see how the 2021 return plays out. You can also see in the trailer Pugsley being knocked over Niagara Falls and blowing up the Grand Canyon, so it might be worth checking that out too from a parents point of view.

We’ll update you with more details on the film as they get confirmed. You can also check out our movie news section to keep tabs on the latest upcoming films, or visit the Universal Pictures website at https://www.universalpictures.com.ystudios.com/.

Runtime

The runtime for The Addams Family 2 has been confirmed as 1 hour and 30 minutes, so it’s a good length for a family comedy flick. It’s whopping three minutes longer than the first film, but it’ll be a lot shorter than No Time To Die if you’re simply looking for the shortest film on over the release date weekend.
