  • Don’t miss out on any special events – we’re currently in Season 9 at the start of 2023, so our tips top top is to make the most out of special events, like the Community Day Classic that we had in January. You can find out more about these to plan them in better by clicking on the little binoculars icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, swiping right to get to Today and scrolling down to the bottom.

It’s got a heading of Upcoming and that will tell you all about dates that are coming up that you don’t want to miss out on in 2023. This will include updates and their timings, so you can get yourself set to make the most of them.

  • Land big results during Community Day Classic events – the last one was Larvitar, which was a flash mob of them appearing, so that you can crank up the candies and evolve yourself a turbo powerful Tyranitar. The next one is Noibat with a chance of Shiny, so again check this out on the Upcoming section mentioned above.
  • Make the most out of Seasonal, Field and Special Research – you can check on this with the binoculars icon in the botton right of the screen when. Complete the various tasks to get a whole host of rewards.

  • Offload weaker Pokémon you don’t want to keep to the professor to get extra candies. You can do this by clicking on the Pokémon you want to transfer, clicking the three lines icon in the bottom right and then choosing Transfer.
  • Go to Pokéstops and spin the disk on the sign to get more Pokéballs and other prizes.
  • Don’t forget to pick up your daily reward from the shop, which will give you a few extra Pokéballs and rewards every day.
  • You can also get more Pokéballs and items by completing the Research options mentioned above.
  • If you have friends that play Pokémon Go you can exchange gifts to get more items too. To add a friend, click on your profile picture in the bottom left and then tab over to friends and you can add them from there. You can then go to Items and scroll down to Gift to send them a care package, which they will probably do for you too.
  • Leave Pokémon at friendly gyms to gain Pokécoins. You can get a maximum of 50 Pokécoins every day, which you can then use to buy items in the shop with.
  • One of the first items you should get is the Item Bag, which will increase your space by 50. If you’ve got too many items it probably means you’re not making the most out of Gym Battles and the Battle League, so check out the next level tips for 2023 below to boost your efforts.
  • If you’re low on Stardust, you can get more by taking on the Battle League, so again check out the tips below. You can also gain more from Pokémon catches, research rewards and opening gifts. You get more Stardust from special catches like first catch of the day and new Pokédex entries, so keep an eye out for these to max out your gains. You can also buy a Star Piece to get a 50% boost to Stardust gains for 30 minutes, so if you use it wisley you can bank a lot.
  • Don’t forget to assign a buddy – click on your profile picture icon in the bottom left of the main page and choose your favourite. You’ll get a candy specific to that Pokémon if you walk with it, so it’s a good way to power up rarer ‘Mon. Collect the hearts to increase your buddy rank, which will give you boosts like Catch Assist, which will return bounced Pokéballs during a catch to increase your chances of landing the catch and prevent losing more Pokéballs.

  • Get your weekly rewards for walking – these are pretty chunky, so well worth it if you want to boost your exercise efforts. It starts at 5km and then there’s a weekly 25km and 50km if you really want to beast it.
  • Hatching eggs gets you extra candies and new Pokémon, so it can be combined with your weekly walk reward efforts to boost your gains. To see your eggs and incubate them, go to you Pokémon page from the menu and then swipe left to see your eggs. You can buy incubators with your Pokécoins in the shop.
  • If you want to find new Pokémon, try going to a new location, or using your Daily Adventure Incense (it’s on the main screen mid way up on the right). Normal incense and lures you buy from the shop is another good way to get different ‘Mon, so if you combine all of this you’ll give yourself a better chance of catching ’em all.
  • Leveling up is another good way to get big rewards, including Ultra Balls. You get XP for pretty much everything mentioned above and if you’re planning to land a lot of them in a short period of time you can get a Lucky Egg from the shop. This will give you double XP for 30 minutes to maximise your gains (feel the burn!).

Next level Battle League tips for 2023

  • To crush it in the Battle League you want a good few options just below 1500CP. This is a the max level for general battles. This means having one version to max out to leave in Gyms, as mentioned above in the Pokémon Go beginners tips for 2023, and then havig another that is just for the Battle League that you purposefully keep just below 1500CP. You can do this by powering up your best ‘Mon until they’re just below that.
  • Choose a team with variety. Having three Fire-Type can get destroyed by a single Water-Typ opponent, so variety is the key.
  • Ideally you want Pokémon that boost up their special attack quicker, so keep an eye on that and when you find one that is fast make that one of your go-to Battle League party ‘Mon.
  • Try learning new attacks if your finding it slow to go to special. This will take some effort, but it can be worth it.
  • Learn Type match-up to know which of your party to switch to at any time. Don’t keep wailing away with a move that has little effect. Switch to another party member that will do more damage and save the other for another match-up later in the battle.

  • Tap like crazy and watch out for your special moves to get the upper hand. It usually comes down to who loses their block first, so the quicker you use special moves the better your odds of landing the win, especially if you’ve got good match-up knowledge.
  • Try exchanging the Pokécoins you make with the tips above for a Premium Battle Pass to get you entry to the Premium Go Battle League for even more rewards.

Pokémon Go Raid Battle tips 2023

  • Pokémon Go raid battles are good way to get strong ‘Mon to add to your party, so keep an eye out for eggs on Pokégyms and head to the location when the timer is ready. You can see the difficulty rating to see what your odds are, so keep an eye out for this so you don’t waist too much time and resource going up against a Raid that is too strong for you.
  • Match-up Type comparison is the biggest factor to be aware of. You want to make sure you party is strong against it’s attacks and it is weak against your. If not then your chances of success are low.
  • This is where you Max CP ‘Mon come in as you can throw in the best of your best, as long as they have good Type match-up comparisons. To give you more chance to win raid battles you want a diverse and powerful batch of Pokémon at the top of your CP organised Pokémon Go screen. Keep powering these up to make things easier over time and it won’t be long before you’re dominating Raid Battles.
