Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania UK DVD, Blu-ray and digital release date

Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania UK DVD, Blu-ray and digital release date

With its arrival on the big screen kicking things off for Phase Five of the MCU, the Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania UK DVD, Blu-ray and digital release date could be on a lot of wish lists. It’s already one of the biggest films of 2023, despite the mixed reviews, and with the potential influence of Kang on the cinematic universe it’s an important film for the future of the franchise.

Peyton Reed returned for the third film to direct it once again and he had a lot of expectation on his shoulders for this one. The last two Ant-Man films didn’t really have the same stakes as Quantumania, so he was probably more free to do his own thing for them.

Here, he had to introduce the MCU’s next big bad, Kang the Conqueror, who will go on to feature in later films like Avengers the Kang Dynasty. To do this he needed to take things away from the San Francisco home of the series and shrink it all down to the craziness of the Quantum Realm.

What this means for the DVD, Blu-ray and digital release is that the film is set in a weird and fantastical location with hints of movies like Avatar the Way of Water. Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania picks up with Scott in the aftermath of Avengers Endgame as he tries to make the most of his life with his daughter Cassie. However, it doesn’t take long for them to get stuck in the Quantum Realm with Kang as their only way to get out.

If you’re looking to add the film to your DVD, Blu-ray or digital collection for Ant-Man or the MCU you can find out more about the release date below. It may have divided fans, with the BBC Culture review describing it as the “worst Marvel film yet”, but it’s hard to argue with it’s potential impact on the next two phases of the cinematic universe.

UK Blu-ray, digital and DVD release date latest

The film arrived at the box office on February 17th, 2023, so the Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania UK Blu-ray, digital and DVD release date looked set for the end of May and mid-June later in the year. Early access digital is already available in the UK and it is due to follow on DVD, Blu-ray and standard digital on May 22nd, 2023.

As ever, there was a lot that could have influenced the date ranges with a lot riding on how successful the film was on the big screen. The troubled reviews have definitely had an impact, which appears to have brought things forward a little. What we’d seen in the past with films like Eternals is that Marvel tends to release DVDs, Blu-rays and digital versions of their films after a fairly lengthy cinema run, but that’s less the case here.

Another big consideration is when Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania will come out on Disney Plus with expectations for it to be before the standard home media options. If the gap between this and its debut in theaters is too short then the value proposition breaks down, so there needs to be a decent gap for the UK Blu-ray, digital and DVD release date.

North America release date latest

The North America release date for Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K has been confirmed for May 16th, 2023, which is before the UK by a week or so. This is shorter than expected, as it initially added weight to us getting them in Britain towards the end of May or early June.

It’s possible that the disappointing reviews and box office results have forced things a little to bring the home media date forward for both the UK and North America. The recent arrest of Jonathan Majors has also been a consideration for media coverage of the film.

The less expensive standard digital should also be towards the end of May with the earlier approach in the US. As with the UK versions, if you’re looking to get all of the bonus features then you need to choose either the Blu-ray or 4K versions of the film, because they’re not usually on the DVD and the digital versions missed the odd one or two.

Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania bonus extras and special features

The announcement for the Blu-ray, 4K and digital release in North America confirmed that there would be over two hours of bonus extras and special features bundled with Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania. You can see details for these with the breakdown below to help you decide on what format to go for:

  •  All In The Family – the Lang-Pym clan discuss their characters in the films and how they’ve evolved over the three films.
  • Formidable Foes – bonus content on the film’s villains with particular emphasis on Kang and his impact on the future of the MCU.
  • Audio Commentary – from director Peyton Reed and writer Jeff Loveness.
  • Gag Reel
  • Deleted Scenes

We should get all of these on the Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania Blu-ray and 4K versions for both the UK and North America. As is usually the case, the special features won’t be on the DVD, and you should check the details for any digital versions that you’re looking to buy to make sure the bonus content is included.
