Avatar 3 UK release date, age rating certificate latest

If you’ve loved the first two films then you’ll want to know the Avatar 3 UK release date to know when the next film in the series will be coming out. The latest details on the sequel are below covering what we know about the release date, age rating certificate, story, cast and runtime.

There’s still a fairly hefty wait until Avatar 3 comes out with the 2nd film still in cinemas, but the hype will grow throughout 2023 and 2024. It’s got an all-star cast and crew, the prospect of another out-of-this-world adventure and breathtaking visuals, so it’s going to be interesting to see what James Cameron does next with the franchise.

Avatar 3 UK release date

The Avatar 3 UK release date looks set to be December 20, 2024, but that’s a long way away, so it’s possible we might get some delays before then. The 2nd movie, like its predecessor, was put back a number of times and that could be the case again with the 3rd entry in the series.

The film was initially slated to come out in December 2020, coinciding with the announcement of four Avatar sequels in April 2016. The following year, a new release date of December 17, 2021, was revealed, with Avatar 4 and 5 following on December 20, 2024, and December 19, 2025, respectively.

Following the announcement of the three upcoming Star Wars films in May 2019, the release dates of the sequels were extended by two years, with Avatar 3 set to be released on December 22, 2023. The date was again stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and a new release date of December 20, 2024, was announced in August 2020.

If things go to plan with the arrival of the 3 in cinemas in 2024 then that should mean we get the DVD, Blu-ray and digital release in time for Easter 2025. Home premier will pre-date this, but with two years of film industry developments to go who knows what that landscape will look like.

Age rating certificate latest

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) won’t confirm the Avatar 3 age rating for the UK until we get a lot closer to the release date, but there’s a lot we can take from the Avatar The Way of Water age rating. It has been given a 12A certificate in the UK and a PG-13 in North America.

This gives us a pretty good indication of what to expect from the film when it comes out in 2024. Avatar 2 had parental guidance notes that included moderate violence, threat, injury detail and infrequent strong language in the UK and that could well roll over in the 3rd film.

Runtime

As with the age rating certificate, the Avatar 3 runtime won’t be announced until we get much closer to the release date. However, looking at James Cameron’s previous work, you can expect it to be pretty long. The Way of Water clocked in at 3 hours and 12 minutes and Titanic was even longer at 3 hours and 19 minutes, so that should give you a target length for his next big release.

The cast and crew

Avatar 3 promises to be a star-studded affair. It is the highly anticipated third installment in the Avatar film franchise, helmed by director James Cameron. The film serves as a sequel to 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water and will see the return of cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, and Jemaine Clement. Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis will also join the cast, portraying new characters.

Cameron is producing the film alongside Jon Landau, and the writing team includes James Cameron, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno. Cameron’s longtime collaborators, such as cinematographer Russell Carpenter, production designer Rick Carter, costume designer Deborah Lynn Scott, and editor John Refoua, are all returning to bring this story to life.

Judging from the previous two movies, Avatar 3 will feature a stunning visual feast of exotic creatures, breathtaking vistas, and otherworldly landscapes. We can also expect a thrilling adventure as the characters in the movie journey to even more incredible places.
Avatar 3 will also bring an emotionally charged story with engaging characters, as viewers will continue to follow Jake Sully’s (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri’s (Zoe Saldana) journeys.

Additionally, we can expect some exciting fight sequences between the Na’vi and the humans. We will also likely see the return of other characters, such as Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang), who were integral to the Avatar franchise.
