Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr, We Almost Lost Detroit single review

Dale Earnhardt Jr.Jr. We Almost Lost DetroitDale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. follow up the dream pop fuzz of February’s, Morning Glow, with their latest single release, We Almost Lost Detroit. On the back of their debut album, It’s A Corporate World, released on June 25th 2012, We Almost Lost Detroit is a party-time mix of hip-hop and guitar rock.

However, the homage to the Mowtown, motor rock city, goes deeper than it’s larger than life beats with lyrics that include references to the massive Edison power plant 30 miles outside the city.

If there wasn’t enough reason to fall for Detroit musically, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. add even more weight to the city’s accomplishments. The simple and addictive chant of the chorus is preluded by the apocalyptically charged dual verse. With elements of gospel, blues, rock and 80s hip-hop it’s a cool fusion with few comparisons.

The video makes Detroit look pretty flash too, with old town, American city charm and more friendly faces than a Mii rave.
