Manic Street Preachers set for thirteenth album, Resistance Is Futile

Manic Street Preachers, Resistance Is FutileOn the heals of the success of Futurology in 2014, Manic Street Preachers will be putting out their thirteenth studio album, Resistance Is Futile. Early signs are pointing to yet another killer rock album from the Blackwood band and you can check out the first single, International Blue, below to get a sample of what to expect.

It’s a record that has been eagerly anticipated for a while now, with reported delays and an enforced studio change along the way. However, with a release date confirmed for spring 2018 and the first single already doing the rounds on the radio it’s finally on its ways and it’ll be accompanied by an eight-date UK tour starting off in April.

Release date

Resistance Is Futile has been confirmed for a release date of the 6th April 2017 and it’ll be out on CD, vinyl LP, cassette and digital. There will also be a deluxe CD and digital release with the demo versions of the tracks included, plus bonus tracks Concrete Fields and A Soundtrack To Complete Withdrawal.

There are a number of record bundles available from the Manic Street Preachers’ store, including the Super Fan Bundle, which includes all formats of the album, along with a Limited Red Vinyl and the deluxe CD, complete with a 24-page booklet. You can also buy the Limited Edition heavyweight red vinyl LP separately.

First impressions

The Manic Street Preachers are about as solid as bands come for new material and with the epic delivery, intent, action and lyrics of Futurology, we’re chalking up another hit record. International Blue is a fort storm all by itself and while the album is called Resistance Is Future, we’re betting it to inspires just as many hands in the air as the rest of their back catalogue.
