Rocketman DVD release date UK and when is it out on Blu-ray, iTunes, digital and rental release

Rocketman DVD Blu-ray and digital release UK

Musician biopics always feel like big events and with Elton John as the subject matter the Rocketman DVD, Blu-ray and digital download release date (see details below) is going to take this to another level. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming home entertainment release, including when it will be out on Xbox ONE and PS4, iTunes and Amazon Video to buy and when you’ll be able to rent it.

The film is named after Elton John’s hit single Rocket Man, which had a release in 1972 on his first number one album, Honky Chateau. It tells the story of the musician’s early days at the Royal Academy Of Music, the start of his ongoing writing partnership with Bernie Taupin, his early success and the emotional roller-coaster of his life that leads him to drink and drugs issues.

Reviews have been fairly strong for its run on the big screen with great acting on the part of Taron Egerton who followed up Eddie The Eagle with a starring role as Elton John. Director Dexter Fletcher seems to have done the music legend justice with the bright lights and sheer energy of the biographical film, so the Rocketman DVD, Blu-ray and digital release is bound to be on a lot of movie radars out there.

Egerton is joined in the cast by Jamie Bell who plays Bernie Taupin, the man behind the lyrics of Elton John’s incredible list of songs. The film also stars Richard Madden (Game Of Thrones) as John Reid, Elton’s controlling partner and manager, Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom) as his mother Sheila and Stephen Graham as Dick James, head of the DJM record label that first signed the young Elton.

DVD, Blu-ray, iTunes, Xbox ONE, PS4, Amazon and digital download release date UK

The Rocketman DVD and Blu-ray release date has been confirmed for the 30th September 2019, following on from its arrival on the big screen in the UK back in May. While the film won’t go on to come out on 3D Blu-ray it has been confirmed for 4K Ultra HD, and with great reviews and such a much-loved star at the heart of the story it should go on to be just as popular for the home entertainment release as it was in cinemas.

The digital download release on iTunes, Amazon Video, Xbox ONE and PS4 will be your first opportunity to buy the film and it’s scheduled to come out two week earlier on the 14th September 2019 in both HD and standard definition. However, the rental release date in the UK for all of the digital options will be the same as the DVD and Blu-ray on the 30th Sept.

Rocketman had a run time of 1 hour 56 minutes, and the download size will need 4.75Gb of storage space at 1080p HD (1.95Gb in standard definition). That may not be huge in comparison to the like of Avengers Endgame, but it’s well worth checking the disk space for your PC, Mac, PS4 or Xbox ONE ahead of the home entertainment release to make sure that you can take the file size.

UK cinema release

Rocketman had a UK cinema release date of Wednesday the 22nd May 2019, however, it has its debut at the Cannes Film Festival a week earlier. It picked up decent reviews on its opening weekend, which only adds to the potential of its arrival on home entertainment formats later this year. However, it didn’t have a clear run at the cinema with the Aladdin live action film out on the same day, which kept it off the #1 spot at the box office.

You can follow Taron Egerton on his official Twitter page at https://twitter.com/taronegerton if you want to see more on the biopic in the run up to the home entertainment release.

Rocketman DVD, Blu-ray and digital release age rating

Rocketman was given an age rating of 15 in the UK by the British Board of Film Classification for the cinema, DVD, Blu-ray and digital release. The film contains drugs misuse, sex and some very strong language.

We’ll add in more details as they become available, but the information above should give you a good idea of what to expect from the home entertainment release.
